So last summer I got lucky and was able to get it working by setting it to "Auto" and then raising the temp all the way up to 90 and then back down to 60.
This some how activates a blend door that is hung up. It would make a distinctive "clunk" when it changed from hot to cold air.
Now all...
I think this is a common problem, but after trying to adjust the rusted retainer clip on my fuel filler door it broke it off! Can anyone confirm if this is the correct part number (LINCOLN 5W4Z5428608A)? I found them on ebay for $23 shipped.
Thanks, Chet
So I've read that the bulb for the analog clock on the Contis is a dealer only part so after confirming this I'm going to replace it. Is there any trick to getting the upper dash plate bezel off without damaging it?
Thanks
My 2001 steers hard at times, seams to be worse under braking conditions. Should I focus on the PS Pump, vacum leak or is there a rack and pinion unit? Motor is also somewhat noisy, but I can't pinpoint witch pulley it is.
I know there are not many performance parts or upgrades avail for the Contis because they're not hot rods and the FWD trans can't handle massive output, but has anyone achievable a legit 300 horsepower or more, have you Dynoed it and what mods did you do?
Chet
I know some of the Continental like mine (Base model?) came through without the heated seats option and I know you guys probably have different opinions on them, but I almost past on an otherwise near perfect 2001 because it didn't have them.
Has anyone ever retrofitted the heating elements...
So I'm cruising at highway speed and the little red oil pressure light begins to flicker, stays lit for a few minutes and then disappears. Is this just a low oil level warning, or something more serious?
The computer display on the dash indicates that oil level is ok. I understand that...
So I'm replacing mine because the broken sunglasses holder keeps flopping down and blocks the rear view mirror. Looking at the well know auction sites I see 2 flavors of the overhead console (One that appears to have "map reading" lights and the other just has a switch that operates the moon...
Picked up a nice 2001 Continental in Autumn Red with 126K miles for $2495! I really like the car and it will take some time to get used to all the gadgets and displays. Known issues include the little sunglasses compartment by the moon roof wont stay closed and the rear passenger side pwr door...
I was wondering if anyone could explain the disparity between the 95-97 260 HP Conties and the more powerful 98-02 275 version and is there an easy retrofit to bump up the older models?
