    exhaust alternatives

Go with the magnaflow below it has a very good sound. I removed the third cat & resonator from my 95. The sound improved but is still on the quiet side. Either Dynomax ultra's or the Magna flow will bring the sound to a slight grow without the drone. Avoid round mufflers, they drone the most...

Coil overs...anyone got some for sale?

I have a set of used lowered strutmaster springs with new unused front struts & all the fittings. pm with an offer if you are interested. Like buddy lee I'm not cleaning out the garage, a fair & reasonable offer gets the complete set. Ed

file a complaint about your defective headlights

I shaved off the front of the lights & Dremeled out the rear holes enough to fit in seal beam headlights from a mid 90's cutless (thin-type rectangle). Now I can see very well at night. By itself the car looks good, different when it has company, but still good. Ed

file a complaint about your defective headlights

Saturday Night Live had a bit where the new President George W. Bush in the year 2145 said that the levies in New Orleans will now withstand a level 5 hurricane, unfortunatly they expect a level 12 to hit within the week. I will submit a second time but I expect that by the time action, if any...

    Headlights

I cut the front off of the assemblies & mounted seal beams in the open holes with a little help from my buddy the Dremel. On it's own it looks factory if you don't know what it should look like. The lights came from an auto store & the local salvage yard. I too can see at night & my wallet...

    245/45/16 tires?

I run either 225's or 235's(/60-16's). The site here allows me to compare stock to options available. My Mark is spring lowered but I still don't want to screw up the speedo etc. by being more than 1.5 to 2% off either way. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Good luck, Ed

    hood strunts

Typically when you pry out the clips you do not take them all the way off, just enough to get them out past the widest part of the retaining ball. But if they do pop off, just put one side on enough to catch it & with either needle nose pliers or any thing that is small & will grip streach the...

    Rims/tires????

WONDER WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE LOWERED? Like the look & especially the ratio between the tire & the wheel. Good show, Ed

how sensitive is the ABS/traction control to tire sizes?

Running 215/60-16's in the front & 225/60-16's in the rear no problem. Ran 235/60-16's in the rear for a while, no problem. The T/C will brake the spinning, loose, wheel up to thirty MPH to help get traction, braking a front wheel will not really accomplish anything. Believe you are all right...

What do you guys and gals think of your markVIII?

This is like being able to modify your first TONKA TRUCK. It's like being a kid again, I just love it. So far no repairs that aren't easily fixed in the driveway or a quick trip to the favorite mechanic( not often ). Like others said it's fun & rewarding. Ed  P.S. 238,000 miles on the car.

    Mercon 5 trans fluid ?

Thinking about using Mercron V, you will bump into the 1/2 & 3/4 accumulator upgrades. If it has not been done, the upgrade(Jerry's Mod), it should be done ASAP! The new fluid flows easier but I don't remember if there are other benifits. I have a 95, did the accumulator changes in my driveway &...

    drilled out air box?

Added a 4" hard rubber tube out the front end of the flat air filter(K&N) box with a scoop on the bottom under the bottom of the bumper. I never saw the silencer. I'll look friday if I finish my salvage yard runs in time. I will probably clean the MAF at the same time. What's the part number for...

    Wipers at Attention

"Wipers at Attention." When I shut off my wiper blades, instead of lying down flat they stand straight up & ridged. I don't know what controls it, but then again men never do, but in this instant, I would like a cure. Any thoughts? Other than attaching the switch to my hip...

    Strut conversion

I bought only the lowered front from Strutmasters when I started my convertion. They said no & then succumbed to the power of persuasion as I promised that I would get the back later. Which I did. Just don't make the promise. Tell Lou that Ed from Plymouth, MA said to talk to him. He will either...

    Aftermarket struts.

Went with Strutmasters for a lowering kit all around, which worked great. Had a problem with a front strut, which they stood behind. No complaints at this time. The lowered ride was good until the strut failed, but it's good again. I worked with Lou at Strutmasters & all ended well. Ed

Anyone have problems going to synthetic

If you have a small leak Syn will probably leak a little quicker. Basically Syn works great & anything that needs fixing will still need fixing. I have 236,000 miles on this 95 & the slight valve cover leak did not change when I switched from organic to Syn. Starts easier, with less drag on the...

    Lets play a guessing game

What belt did you put on? I picked up the standard belt(big name that I can't remember) from a local shop & it squealed. I then bought one from the local dealer & a Dayton belt from the previously mentioned local dealer. The Dayton belt did/does not squeal. Sometimes it's just the manufacturer &...

    We are pimps

The policeman/women on the beat responds to the officer in charge. The OIC responds to the demands of the chief, who responds to the political climate in the town or state where they live. So just like a fireman the policemen respond as directed, some with more ability than others. So get off of...
