Yup, in NJ.
Thanks for the offer and the advice, guys. I definitely don't want to say goodbye to the LS, but I can't help thinking there's something out there with better mpg and cheaper maintenance.
Maybe I'm just being way too paranoid about some of the problems...
2004 LS V.6.
I'm neither wealthy nor handy - especially not handy enough for this car. Love the car, but hate what it costs to maintain.
I'd be fine spending a couple thousand getting all the issues sorted out, but with the Lincoln it seems like it's always one thing after another.
I need...
Is there any point at all?
I do my own oil changes as well as whatever little things I can figure out. I've taken the LS to autoshops (2004 V.6, 92k) on a few occasions where the technicians have spent eons trying to diagnose issues and only achieved minimal success.
Have I just been...
The shop also recommended that I replace my water pump ($300+ parts and labor) at some radiator stuff (800+) plus change a lot of hoses. Overall they recommended like $1800 in repairs which I wasn't ready for with my 2004 LS. Sheesh.
I was having the same issue. I took it to a repair shop and they charged me 150+ bucks to diagnose a closed thermostat and replace. Turns out the thermostat was broken or stuck closed or whatever, and nothing was getting passed it.
I have heat now, but I noticed a little bit of extra noise...
I've been driving my lincoln for almost a year, but I've never really used the 5 speed automatic transmision. I just stick with D5 all the time, except once when it snowed bad and I drove in 2.
I drive in a lot of stop and go traffic, so I'm wondering, would it actually be better to move...
It doesn't flash. It doesn't come on at all unless I drive away during the shaking episode.
It only did this in the morning btw, after cold nights. It did nothing at all when I went to lunch this afternoon.
Oil was changed about 3800 miles ago. Manual says change every 5000, but the oil change is something I'd like to do this weekend regardless. Regardless whether I had changed oil or not seemed to have no bearing on the issue last year. I don't think this car has ever had new plugs, so that could...
My engine has starting shaking in the morning when I start the lincoln up. It shakes for about 5 minutes, and then stops considerably.
I had this problem in the winter, where it would shake and the check engine light would come and go. As long as I waited long enough for the engine to stop...
Sounds very consistent with what was happening Joe. I didn't mention this earlier but before I lost cool completely earlier this year I lost it on passenger side first. New relay and a can of refrigerant has me cool on both sides now.
I'm sure. After half a year of this + high volume highway traffic everyday I also would have been plowed into by now if they weren't working.
