    Might Be For Sale!

Not sure yet. If/when it is, I'll put it in the classifieds section. A few weeks ago I noticed a noise during deceleration that sounds like a whine, like a bad differential. It goes away under even the slightest of acceleration though. I'm going to let the mechanic go over it to see...

    Continental to return for 2016

It's not April Fools because it's too early! www.foxnews.com/leisure/2015/03/30/lincoln-continental-return-set-for-next-year/ It looks pretty promising, and it's Lincoln's first new offering that gets them back to where they were with the Continental & Town Car. Rebadged SUVs & Taurus...

    HID projector retrofit

AFAIK, I'm the second person to do this swap. It was a huge PITA but well worth it in the end. These are the Morimoto Mini Stage III bi-xenon kit (4300k bulbs, 35 watt) from TheRetrofitSource - $270 for everything. The first step is to put the headlight in your oven for 12 mins at 225...

    New record lowest-mileage Conti!

And it's almost local to me! 2002 with 6800 miles. I go more than that between (synthetic) oil changes! http://www.ebay.com/itm/121479468101 I paid $7k for my car 2 years ago at 81k miles. I would gladly pay another $1500 for 1/10th the miles. I think it's safe to say a "newer"...

    Another ebay share

This isn't mine but it should be somebody's here! (I might be kind of partial to the color :D ) 1998 Continental, 98k miles, toreador red w/ tan http://www.ebay.com/itm/261582269752 Looks to be in great condition, seller says everything works, no issues. The price is certainly nice...

    LED tails installed!

Just drop-in bulbs, not a custom panel or anything, but here's the how-to for others. You'll need an 11mm socket to remove the tail light housings. The plastic trim along the bottom of the trunk opening pulls straight up - you can figure it out from there. Use patience when reinstalling it...

    Sharing another ebay find

1987 Lincoln Continental Givenchy - 31k original miles http://www.ebay.com/itm/400728389614 Sometimes I run into older Lincolns that are really sharp. My grandmother had an 87 in a creme color. This one is a real survivor - there can't be many out there still like this. I don't know...

    Cleanest Continental ever

I don't think I'm breaking any forum rules by posting an ebay ad. I have no connection to this car or the seller but man, I wish I was the one buying it! 11k miles on a 2002 and it looks it! I've never seen a more showroom-appearing car than this one...

    Serpentine tensioner pointers

Just thought I'd share my experience with replacing the serpentine belt tensioner. No pics but none are really needed. • Put the car on ramps. You'll need to lift the engine slightly so the jack will be needed for that. Unbolt the power steering reservoir and tie it out of the way. It...

    Suspension Modes - revisited

Quite a while ago I posted that switching my suspension to firm didn't make much (if any) difference, and that I remember it making a huge difference on my grandmother's 95 (back in 1995). I've been researching the system and I may create a device that disconnects the shock solenoids at WOT...

    New tires!

Ok, so no pics of them on the car yet but I like them so much I had to share. Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 in the stock size. Think of them as the "frugal man's Michelin Pilot Sport A/S". Grip is very much improved over the blah Michelins that came on the car (generic XGV line). Most surprisingly...

    Southern Super Heavy Shootout 13

http://sshs13.ecirs.org/ I'm not affiliated with the event; in fact, I'm not even 100% sure I'll be able to make it! I'd love to take the car down the track a few times even though I'm in no danger of winning anything. I still have to get the transmission rebuilt before that happens. It...

    Why a height sensor?

Since my 2000 has air suspension only in the rear, why do the front wheels still have height sensors? Am I overlooking something obvious?

    PCV part info here

I swapped out the PCV valve this weekend as part of regular maintenance. Since they frequently don't list parts for Continentals I thought I'd put part numbers here for others. PCV valve: PCV1201DL This seems to be an AutoZone-only part number. It's a metal valve and seems to be built as...

    Summit Racing ignition coils

I installed new plugs & coils over the weekend and wanted to share that a complete set of 8 coils was only $180. A search showed that people who have them like them, far more so than the Accel or MSD options, and you can't beat the price. Even AutoZone coils would have been $340. Part...

    Easy gauge mod

I decided I didn't want the kilometers reading on my speedometer so I got rid of them: I like how much cleaner it is. I just cut some black vinyl in a semi-circle and stuck it over the top reflector source for the gauges. Voila - instant blackout of the center portion of the speedo...

    Typical fuel pump issue

Recently I've had a harder time getting the car to start. It turns over but never fires, and I'm 99% sure it's a lack of fuel causing the problem. For a while I could keep it from happening by pausing at the ON position long enough for the pump to prime and the car would fire up right away...

    Progressive throttle opening

Me again - just thinking out loud. I was making sure my throttle body was clean (and it was almost like new) and I noticed the blades opened progressively. The second port doesn't begin to open until about half throttle. This has been discussed on the Mark VIIIs here relatively recently...

    Suspension firmness question

I can't tell a difference between plush > normal > firm suspension settings. I mean nothing. The steering firmness is easily felt and the air suspension works perfectly. I have no warning messages on the dash. Reviews say the "plush" setting should drive like a cruise ship so I'm sure I...

    Clean your HVAC temp sensor!

I had my dash apart today to work on replacing the stereo with a double DIN nav unit. After removing the radio trim piece you can also see the temp sensor for the AC directly in front of the ignition switch. It's got a little thermistor to sense the air temp and an air duct to pull air across...
