check, check, check, check, check, check.... done it all. done the coils, plugs, fuel filter, etc etc. what could be left? It's still only happening about 70% of the time, and the smell of gas continues. should I start from the top and do it all again?

At my wits end, but I think I'm on to something. Gas mileage is really suffering now, and I hear a noise with every touch of the gas. Fuel pressure regulator??? Would love to know the part # or suggested replacement piece.

Replaced IAC and the issue remains.

I'll give it a try with the accelerator down for a few starts in the next two days. If it seems like improvement, I'll order a new IAC asap. Hoping that's it!

I pulled the MAF this weekend and it was absolutely spotless, connections looked perfect. I'll need to replace the air filter, but the filter itself was not really all that shabby (but it's seen better days). Makes me think I'll end up doing the IAC this weekend. I'll try to clean it first...

What's a good brand MAF sensor? I'll just buy one and replace it regardless, with new air filter, too.

I see no visible leaks. If there is one, it'd be on the fuel line under the plastic cover or some other place which I'm not seeing. I've already had the valve cover gasket replaced (when I did the plugs and coils) which I forgot to mention last time, by the way.
