im not a expert but i though only difference for 1981 was it became its own car. My buddy had a 80 that said Continental Towncar and i thought in 81 it became just the Towncar? I dunno those are my favorite ones though . THey had little details that made it lincoln.

Only issue is the 95-97 has a single chrome strip on the bumper where the older ones have 2 chrome strips but most people dont notice it.

I cant say for sure since i dont have a 99 but from pics it looks like a panel that can be swapped out then its a matter of wiring the new clock in. only issue may be finding a matching dash clock piece.

I cant believe i would actually say this but why would you wanna get rid of the air springs? Unless you need to replace everything at once i would think it wouldnt be to expensive to replace just the springs. I think you could even go with Limo air springs which are almost indestructable LOL
