I checked RockAuto. They're out of the aircraft-grade aluminum thermostat housing upgrade, which I was going to recommend (you would find that under the 2000 Jaguar S-type). The motorcraft part listed for the LS V8 thermostat is RT1154 and has the flat bottom, like the second picture.

Hmm looks like other people have issues with leaks around the tail lights from what I'm reading. Or it could be the moonroof drain tubes.
