My intentions are to sell my LS just before I head overseas for a while, at which time I'm going to buy an 04 Cobra. When I return, I'm interested in buying an 06 LS and an additional daily driver with good mileage (condition not a factor! :) ). Anyhow, I'd then have most all of the...
I like ILLS's idea... It would seem to be the easiest; now you would only have to worry about a belt for the supercharger alone, not routing a belt with obscene length to fit all of your accessories. And on top of that, you get an inch to three to play with (just depends how you set-up your...
Good to know...
So you've got the pistons covered and the rods covered (Didn't you say you thought chevy rods would be a pretty close substitute in the 3.9L?), pistons covered. Any final decisions on the crank?
there are a good number of people running Aluminum rods on street driven machines... How many miles they put on them, I don't know... but the fact remains... They aren't relegated to track driven trailer queens anymore.
Well Ken, I hope you have much better luck than previously had with GMS. I'd love to be able to throw upgrade coils in... but I was pretty depressed when it fell through last time!
ILLS, NHLSV8...
Have you considered looking for off the shelf rods which would match up close enough that a good machinist could make them work? Really, as long as length is pretty close and the big end is a hair on the small side... what with offset grinds and the like, it might be totally...
OR just buy a Ford GT, Stroke the 5.4 to 6.0, install custom cams and a kenne bell 2.8L blower; 1100-1200HP with ease in a car that is pretty much track ready right from the factory
But then again... they were talking about an LS, not a GT or S2000
oh, btw... just came to my attention that flowmaster has HushPowerII resonators as well as mufflers; which will help tone down that sound a bit more...
something to remember, when talking cat-backs; there's nothing available for your car (03-up had NO cat-backs available). So you're in reality just talking about mufflers and resonators. Also, not to be a jerk, and understanding that no one is perfect on spelling and grammer... it would help...
Large throttle bodies can provide for a boost in performance, without any head or intake work. Evidence of this can be seen in the Mustang and various bow-tie engines. However, the gain is usually pretty marginal on throttle body upgrades without additional work (in the realm of 3-5HP). 99-04...
I think you're looking at too much work for it to be practical... unless you have virtually unlimited resources. There isn't that much which is compatable between the LS and the S type in the realm of electronics, so you'd be fighting a never ending problem getting everything to run right.
