No pics yet but I'll post them once I'm done. I'm putting a Liliput 7inch touch screen and a carputer and amp in the trunk. Going to have to re-route the wires into the trunk for the amp, and run a power cable to the trunk from the battery, then try ( if I can ) to find a place to install the carputer besides the trunk. I can put it in the trunk but if it's small enough I'm thinking about under the glove compartment.

Can't wait to get my inverter so I can install my rear light. I know I know.. I need to get sunlight pics for you guys but I forgot this weekend. I really do get a lot of compliments on the car now-a-days though. Now... if only I could get the interior to look decent. :(

Plus I need to figure a way to mount the lillipad. It will take some fabricating. Of that I'm sure.

specs on carputer
Jetway Hybrid motherboard with C7 processor
M2-ATX power supply
Black VOOM case
Rider runner front end installed
1000s of mp3s
1/8" to dual RCA Y-Adapter

linked pic of the screen b/c it's big.

You can watch porn when your driving!

Yes, yes I can.

Pull the seats out before you run your wires. It will make things easier.

Will do. And you know what. I just put in the passenger seat 3 days ago after driving around without it for 6 months.

btw: screws for the seats can be found at home depot. M8 1.25 pitch.

Or free at pick-a-part

.50cents a screw + 12cents a washer. Worth it in just the gas. lol

Is there anything worthwhile in the yards around houston? ( or have you grabbed it all lol )

I put a computer in my mini when I restored it. Had a lilliput touch screen and a start up/shut down controller. Was running streetdeck for the front end and did a fiberglass mold for the touchscreen in he dash.
Let me know if you need any questions answered.

I've pretty much settled on ditching my carputer for an Android based (probably Archos) tablet. There's nothing I do on the carputer that a tablet can't handle.

Wait about a month and get an Adam. Company's name is Notion Ink. It's spec's are SICK. Look at the website blog and you will see this thing is going to blow the crap out of the iphone. ( android based ). I'm getting one as soon as they come out. Check often for pre-ordering info. hehe

I'm not getting the carputer for the apps but for the versatility. There are quite a few things you can do with it and on top of that I can sync my mp3 connection when I come home. I can also use my phone to tether for internet. I'm going to need to mount a usb cable. Looking on carmp3.com for it ( maybe it's mp3car.com ).

( plus it's the same price for a nav unit. ... actually cheaper as I"m getting it used. at a FANTASTIC price. )

The specs on that thing are fairly impressive... They seem REALLY REALLY proud of it, so I'm surprised it's as reasonably priced as it is.

I'm really wondering what a full on carputer can do these days that an Android tablet can't. Of course, I'm talking about stuff that you would realistically want to do in a car. Pretty much all I used mine for was music, and occasionally videos/timewaster games/internet (until I got an old Mytouch.)

I had one in my Taurus back in 2005

Please post some pics of the screen mounting process.
I've been thinking about a carputer for years now, but the thought of trying to make that screen fit in the dash has been scaring me.

why not get one of those roof mounted flip down screens? that are between 12 and 18 inchs. Some of them even have a removable screen so you dont have to worry about theives.

also there is a gen1 on cardomain with a ten inch screen for his carputer in dash. maybe you could email him for some help/pointers.

my carputer and amp is waiting for a 7" lilliput too but other projects are putting that on hold...something like a CLEAR 4g wireless internet will do...i think comcast got a wireless internet now too so have fun with it bro!

That's going to be the hard part. I'll post pics.

too much. I'd go with a nav unit but they are too expensive. This is cheaper plus I can dicker with it to my hearts content.

When I have the money I'll do that. In the meantime I'll tether my phone.

It's used so It's basically setup. There are a ton of different 'front ends' you can use. What's on there is actually what I was going to use. 'Riderunner'

I was going to ask. Where is the best place to mount an amp. It's a 600watt amp. Not sure where to mount it. Thinking maybe I need to cut off a piece of wood and mount it to the frame behind the back seat. I thought there was a rack in the top of the trunk though but haven't looked in a while.

That's exactly where it should go. If you're going to do this, then I suggest we rewire the entire car. Remove the package tray as well.
