Interestingly, I got an e-mail notification of such a PM just before 6pm today, but when I launched Firefox and came to LvC around 7:45pm, I had no new PMs. Sounds like Joey and the other admins are working on the problem.

I got no spyware or antivirus unless you include what vista came with. Seems like whenever I buy spyware detection software or norton or macfee that I seem to get more problems than if I just have the MS standard blocker/antivirus software. I mean think of this...how is Norton and other products supposed to make money if they can completely cure your system for only 30-60 per year? no they gotta make sure you buy an upgrade or a f*cking new computer! I've had more crashes with a Norton installed than without.

Thats why you dont buy Norton or McAffee. Nod32 is all you need as far as A/V goes. As for spyware, SpyBot S&D is about as good as it gets.

I created a new thread with the important information in the title so people can see it quickly. First of all, don't go to the website it lists! Here's the detail about it from Symantec:

Next never immediately click on a link, always hover your mouse over it to make sure the actual URL it sends you to is the same as what it shows on the page.

I second Eset's NOD32 as an antivirus. I used to be a reseller for it after selling every other AV under the sun. Eset is by far the fastest, most effective and least intrusive solution.

Its going around. A site that I am a "super mod" on got hit yesterday too. The username was a dead give away "Boardsupport". We had nine new accounts register in the last week. All with flatout fake usernames forumtechsupport, modadmin, etc.... None of them posted. Only one sent PMs. I "banned" all nine accounts immediately. Just to protect members. I posted a topic for all members to read. Everyone that received the PM reported it. We implemented a new policy. New members have to have 5 post. Before they can send PMs.
