Has anyone here replaced a heater core in a 77-79 Lincoln Continental with auto climate control? I think maybe even 74-79 would work. When I took mine out, the rubber gasket that surrounded it had totally rotted. I can't get a replacement online, and I doubt anything in a junkyard would be of any good. I think it was there not to stop leaks, but just to cradle the unit so it doesn't move around.

Hi 78_TownCar_460

Yes the rubber gasket surrounding the heater core is there to stop the core from vibrating in its housing.

Have you tried Dan at GoldmanClassicLincolns.com , if he can't get one then use a strip of foam around the heater core.

I didn't want to wait that long. I'll keep that guy in mind for the future though. I ended up using gasket material around the top and I wedged in some foam around the sides. That thing is solid in there. Everything works though, no leaks, and it really heats up the cabin.
