Subwoofer Ground Strap

I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question...

We have an 01 V8 Sport. Those weren't available with the factory subwoofer. We finally located a factory subwoofer assy and bolted it in...and much to our surprise, the factory wiring was all in place. A little adapting here and there and it's hooked up to our AVIC-Z2. But here's the question I have: The subwoofer assy we got has a bare braided copper ground strap hooked to the amp. Can someone tell me exactly where the other side of this ground strap goes? Right now, we have it hooked to the package tray. I have seen these straps on other factory subwoofer set ups. But I haven't paid attention where it goes! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Nobody has pulled their sub assy off the package tray or looked at this strap?

Nope.

Just ground it to the body somewhere.

I took my rear deck speaker panel out the other night to get to the third brake light assembly. The copper braided ground was grounded on one of the bolts that held the speaker cabinet up under the rear deck.
