I know there are threads on here about removing the rearview mirror, but what is the best way to remove the metal clip. I tried a small screwdriver but was afraid I was going to damage the windshield. Any suggestions on the best way to pop the clip off?

I just went through this last month when I was installing a new mirror. I had to take a small pair of channel lock plyers and gently pull that thing off. I started from one side and pulled to the other side. It went flying off as it is on tight.
