Hi, I'm new here

Last July my son bought a 2000 Lincoln LS sport with V6 and a manual. 4 years ago I bought him a 1994 Escort LX sport with a manual, he pretty much trashed this car mechanically and astatically before the engine seized while I was driving it last year. I owed him a car.

He wanted another Escort, but he had been looking for something a little more exotic before this. Considered were; Subaru SVX's, Hot Aurora's & Mercury Marauder's, but none came a manual. He found a ad for an Escort just like his, but the seller wouldn't reply to his calls, and the next thing I know is he wants to go look at a Lincoln LS, IT HAS A MANUAL!

After paying $750+taxes I,m driving home on an already hot day in a black car whose HVAC system knows one setting, hotter than ...

Sadly, my son passed away just 2 1/5 weeks later from the side effects of his seizure medication (Keppra).

Doing the car times with him had to be good dad son times together and your love for your son. Its a hard experience to lose any family member and maybe more so with a son. God bless him and God bless you during this hard time in life.

The continuing story,
When we got it home, a neighbor admonished him to not trash it like the Escort. He must have taken it to heart, because he spent the next several days polishing and waxing it. One thing became apparent, this car had been though a lot of car washes that used detergent and brushes. I bought him some line remover, but he never had a chance to use it.

One day when I came home from work, he was just finishing a panel and I stood with him for a minute admiring this awesome car. Then he walked me around it telling me of the 'personal touches' he wanted to make. One was he wanted put a shift pattern decal on the rear window like his friend Jessie has on his BMW, Two was he wanted LARGE round driving lights instead of rectangular ones the car has (see the pictures of his Escort on his Facebook page, Gabriel Roth, to realize how modest this desire was), Three, he wanted the color keyed chrome centered grille like the LSE's have. When he told me how few were made I told him 'good luck with that! better just repaint the one you have.' Who would have guessed I would find one in a junk yard we frequented 6 months latter.

Thank you, it is good to be welcomed, I should do more of it myself.

I'm guessing that you are of the Virginia linage of the Owen family. My Mom's family (Owen), came from (I'm guessing) somewhere in New England, but I can only trace it back 2 generations. Do you know anything about your family background?

I discovered about 2 months ago, a you tube video that my son posted titled 'A short tour of my MANUAL 2000 Lincoln LS'. If you haven't seen it, try to find it, his computer name is riotkill.

Thank you Dutch, I have already read a lot of your posts as this car, as fun as it is to drive, is full of unpleasant surprises. I also think I am the the last one to see the You Tube post of my sons. I don't think I have mentioned on this site that my brother in Oregon also has a 2000 manual equip t LS.
