I have a slow coolant leak coming from the flange on the passenger side head that feeds the heater core. it has two pipes connected to it. One goes to the head and the other travels through the v of the engine to the water pump I think... Both feed the heater core. Is this flange an o-ring seal that slips into the head? Is that usually difficult to fix? it seems to be in there pretty tight. Has anybody replaced the o-ring/gasket with the engine in the car? Thanks

This is mostly the same but the Mark VIII one looks a little different.

Here is a Mark VIII motor with the part circled

Looks like there is no sealing, but it is there - the o-ring type. Can be found in Fel-Pro upper sealing kit HS9790PT3 or HS9790PT6 (year specific).

Damn that's perfect! Thanks. I couldn't even find a diagram like that in my ford service manual.

It's from parts catalogue, not service manual. Had problems finding parts diagram in the service manual too.

there is an o ring.
every one ive messed with had rtv as well.
so i would rtv it.
i would probably pull the trans to deal with it.

That was the plan gotta pull the trans to deal with some other stuff. When the engine was on the stand it was in there pretty good. Hopefully it comes out.
