Im looking at an 85 mark vii, decent shape for its age, runs on carb spray. air suspension still operational.

The questions im here to ask:

The odometer says " error"
Also a previous owner pulled the master cylinder out and has it laying in the trunk, there was a reason given, but long story short, its a working master cylinder that needs to be re installed. OK, no problem.

the fun is in the mass of wires and open connectors under where the master cylinder should be. can someone post pictures of what is supposed to be there and how those wires should be if done properly?

Im amazed the car will run with all of those wires undone. Hopefully ill get answers tonight and Friday, Im supposed to pick the car up Saturday, if I can get these questions answered.

Also, has anyone done a brake booster, and master cylinder swap from a mustang, to get around the complicated system the Lincoln has, or have any information on that swap?

Suggest you take pictures from different angles before tearing it down,it will help you get it together amd be right. I have done this with wahing machines and radios. Works well

Error simply means that the instrument cluster (speedometer/odometer in your case) is NOT reading the memory module. The fix is to first verify that the ignition switch (not key switch) has been replaced. If that doesn't do it then install a replacement module from another instrument cluster. Once the mileage displays, there will be an S inside of a SQUARE indicating that you have changed the module.
