What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Drove in to the you-pull-it place. They got a 98 in yesterday (and I don't get the Email they are supposed to send, so I missed a day). Trunk isn't open (and the switch is a ground, so could only pop fuel filler with battery from drill) so I couldn't get the neon (it is a base and chrome, but the reflector is perfect), wrong interior color for anything I want, so other than grabbing the grille and headlight (better shape than the one I have on their now, not perfect but the lens looks salvageable) and mirror (it wasn't brown/bronze and double vision, so maybe it works....) I grabbed the radiator and fan. I think my radiator has a leak, and it was basically new (only a couple pieces of straw embedded in the fins).

1BiggHunn was out there scavenging also, just like last time there was a 95 in the yard. Every time something comes in there, it is when I am leaving town, last time I left town for a week business trip, this weekend it is traveling to Mexico to visit in laws.

I am not sure what type of voltage/signal the mirror gets. I want to try it out before I tear mine apart only to find it isn't any better.

Ran two cans of Sea Foam back to back. One normally and one with IRMC plates forced open (vacuum pulled). My plate seems to have been sticking open lately.

Felt like it made a huge difference. Idle felt great and response felt amazing.

Then, measured out a quarter mile and raced my brother in his supercharged Riviera :N

doesn't it show a CEL if your plates stick? with OBD2 mine did when the pod leaked...P1537 iirc

ODB 1 here.

I've had a CEL for a while because of the EGR so I'm not positive.

I'll try and run my scanner tomorrow and see if anything new comes up.

for some reason its not allowing me to upload multiple pictures at a time so I may have to do this in segments since I finally got out of the hospital after being out of total of 10 days since December to find that of course my battery is dead and the doors were moisture closed and among other things so I called my buddy add advanced auto parts and brought me a new Gold battery 5 year warranty for nothing since technically my warranty ran out in the hospital I was going to get an Optima but with this new gold battery we'll see how it runs before I make a jump to optima since I put a 2000w amp in place of my1600w ,and those kickers hit HARD even being 4 yrs old.

put the battery in change all the fluids charged the air conditioning damn its hot out here you just open the door your house and sweat before you even step outside put the rear subs in and new boss audio 4 farad stiffining capacitor to take some of the strain from the charging sysyem and battery before I upgrade the big three my lights don't dim now but at 2000 watts they will chip away at your stock electronic system with anything less than 130 amp alternator in cars like these or those with alot of bells and whistles.I'm pretty sure that's what the mark 8 LSC as is the 130 amp alternator run all electronics so any help on that system your car would appreciate

something's wrong with the posting software at posting the same picture as I start to explain the different things done like installing the stereo the stiffening capacitor and my future outlook for the paint scheme with the black rims anyways I'll try and get into it but it doesn't seem to be working

I can only upload a different way now for some reason. I have the white opalescent color which I like with the black windows going to keep the white and black theme with the black 18 inch rims and I have my tail lights from my last car with the black trim around them looks goodand I've got the black door handle as well since the passenger side one was broken when I got which car but I'm going to keep it and put the black one on the drivers side and and thinking about changing the trims drive along the door and fender 2 blackand a black or metal style front grill should look good

Fixed busted door panel pull handle with a metal support brace.
Did the other one a while back.

Continuing saga of my no fuel at the rail condition. Fuel pump was replaced, probably ok after diagnosing the VRCM was the source of problem. Found one in a 96 Mercury cougar and plug it in and fashioned a temp holder/case for it from the original one. Fuel pump works, but AC compressor and radiator cooling fan do not. Wrong VRCM. I have been driving the car but it overheats...I recalled that I had this "overheating" problem earlier in the summer. Temp gauge would rise to near border line of the normal range but would drop with car in motion..it was cooler then. My VRCM or at least the cooling fan circuit/relay must have been failing at the time. At any rate, I put 12V to grnd tab and the high/low speed prong of the three prong connector and today and the fan runs. Temporary fix was to direct wire the fan, using a connector and wire "harness" from a 2003 Ford escort at the Pull-part today. I have not been able to locate a VRCM yet. Any body have one that they can sell me or know some one that has a spare? I took mine apart and can see an area on the PCB where it has "burned". So I can drive the car without it overheating now but I need to find a VRCM...Fun stuff. Never thought I would be trying to fix a PCB...probably a 20 cent capacitor or transistor(s) that have failed. Any thoughts or knowledge about the guts of the VRCM would be appreciated! I am sorry for being so wordy!

Finally did the clay bar thing today, and what a difference that is. Like night and day. All of the welded on dead bug guts on the front bumper, the little road speckles on the rocker panels, and even the flecks of paint I've been incessantly peeling off from my neighbors careless trim painting job, all of it is gone now. I can't get over how the paint feels running my fingers over it, it's like it could be new paint. Pictures to come later for sure, it is successfully dark now.

Good to see that you are finally out of the hospital Jason. Now you can get back to doing the things you love. :steering

Today I took my BoB in to get detailed. A much needed proper wash, wax and interior armor all'ed. Came out real nice. Wanted to take a picture but instead didn't. Ended up taking a picture at home but it's a cell phone pic that doesn't do any justice. One problem I will have when I wake up though are water spots. I have to park on the side of the grass where two corner sprinklers are close enough to get a little spray on the car.

The guy at the car wash said to do a light wipe with a damp cloth to minimize the spots. So I'll give that a try.

I'd move the sprinklers, or the car. I know that in CA the water is the hardest in the world, and it comes with chunks in it. Wipe it down with a damp sponge/rag, and dry it off. Wax often.

My brother in laws parking spot at their apartment was at a sprinkler, and he fought serious mineral buildup on his car.

New front tires (ignorant tire people as re retarded! As you will agree when you see the pic) Also mobbed out the windows20140906_120717.jpg20140906_120707.jpg

Well, it wasn't today, it was a couple of weeks ago, but I finally got my 18's on the car, and I just now got time to post some pics....

I went to a u-pull it yesterday in Rock Hill, SC yesterday and they had a black on black 93 it still had the VRCM so I pulled and hooked it up this morning and all seems to be well. AC is functioning. I have another VRCM coming in the mail also. So I will have a backup module! I have been slowly working on the interior and would like to find some good LSC seats in gray or black...

Went to LKQ on Saturday because a 93 had been dropped there Friday night.

It was a green/tan early 93 (had the dimpled air tube) and it had only 53,000 miles! Yes, FIFTY THREE THOUSAND. Poor damn car. It had "runs and driven into yard" written on the side. Tires looked almost brand new. Everything in the engine bay looked great. Interior wasn't bad at all. Headlights were pretty much perfect. I didn't want to buy them but I couldn't leave such good headlights there. They looked like they weren't ever hardly used.

My brother and I started tearing into the engine trying to figure out why it was junked. Pulled the fuel rails, injectors, complete intake and IRMC plates, throttle body. Coolant still looked and smelt good, oil looked pretty clean. Tranny fluid looked clean and smelt good. Finally, we pulled the passenger side valve cover. Looked clean as a whistle. Found a rocker arm that the bolt had come out and it was just laying in there. If I had to guess, it was ticking and the guy panicked and scrapped the whole car because of that. Poor damn thing, she had so much life left in her.

Well, I'm going to be getting my settlement from the other driver in my accident from May in a couple of weeks. So it's possible I may be in the market for a Mark VIII again. Hopefully. I've got my T-Bird as a DD and the Exploder as the multi-purpose extra vehicle. So now I need another Mark. I'd like to find a GEN1 for $1k or less that's not perfect but still half way decent. I really miss having a Mark VIII in my driveway. It just doesn't feel right. And I look at picutres of my old '95, '96, and '97 Marks and it just makes me want one more. But I'm stuck on the GEN1s now. I loved my pearl white '95. That car was pure bad ass. And I desperately want another one.
