My gas cap cover, when shut, sits about 1/8 too high above the rear quarter fender. is there any adjustment for height on the gas filler door?
I can push it down and it matches perfectly but when I let up it springs right back up.

Mine is the same way, I haven't dug into it, I am afraid the same thing will happen last time I tried this, I had to pry it open, but this car seems to be setup differently. It is on my long list of things to do, in my copious amounts of free time (I have no free time).

Maybe, by bending the door lock tab and trimming the gas door rubber bumpers, you could get the door to sit flush.

This is my "before":

There doesn't seem to be any adjustment of the popper:

However mine was loose. I tightened it up and it currently only pops out about half of what it did before.

Mine was worse than yours when I bought my '97.

Sits flush now after a spacer mod on the popper.

The popper screw holes are long cut, loosen the screws a couple turns and push the popper inward, tighten screws back down

I loosened them way up, and I couldn't get it to move in or out. I used a small crow bar to hold it as far back as I could when I tightened up the bolts, and it didn't change where it was compared to just tightening them up. Mine is better now, I still am not happy with it so I might try again, or see if I can slot the popper holes the bolts go through, but there are still plastic legs on all four corners that I don't know what they do.

Try flattening out the spring tab just a bit, don't over do it, or it won't pop out when you hit the release button. If by chance you flatten it too much you'll have to hold the release cable in the trunk and pick the door out with your other hand
