I narrowed the the problem of my fan not running to either the fan motor or the vcrm, and someone suggested testing the motor by hooking it directly to the battery, and how would be the best way to do this? I can't really tell where that fan motor cable is going, it just kinda disappears lol. And where is the VCRM located?

Don't follow the fan wires just unplug the wires at the fan and test it.
They draw a lot of current so use an adequate gage wire.

How do you test it like that? Sorry I'm literally terrible when it comes to cars lol but too poor to take it somewhere

Then you're driving the wrong car! The plug that goes into the fan has a tendancy to have a loose connection after a while. Start the car, turn on the A/C. The fan should be running. Carefully reach down and wiggle the plug. If the fan goes on and off, you found your problem. Go to the junkyard and get another plug. You can get it off an escort, taurus, just about any Ford shares the same plug. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip! I tried that and it did nothing. My AC doesn't work currently due to a vacuum leak, but should turning it on kick the fan on anyway?

Nope. If the ac is inop the ac relay wont close and the fan.circuit still wont run.
AC circuit is moderated by Low Pressure Switch. If there is no gas in the system it wont signal AC relay close.

If the fan motor is going bad, it will still turn if it is hooked straight to the battery, but not through it's regular circuit. I traced this problem with mine for a while and when I replaced the motor, everything worked.

Exactly. Run appropriately sized wire to the pins on the fan motor from the battery to test the fan motor.
