What did you do to your LS today?

Yeah, I'm usually not a big fan of the wood grain "stickers" because they usually fit like crap, but that looks really good. More info, please.

^ What is this piece and where does it go?

Under hood plastic panel ?

----EDIT: is it the piece that sits directly below the hood latch, at the very front ?

This is the link to the site I got the wood dash kit from: http://www.wooddash.com/category/LINCOLN_Dash_Kits_LS

I bought the WD502H kit. The wood pattern and color is a perfect match for the gen 2 LS w/the factory wood trim. It fits well except around the shifter. The cut out for the shifter was slightly off center on mine so you can see some silver on the left hand side. Also, there is some silver still visible around the stereo. I kind of wish I painted the silver parts black first then put the wood on just because there would be less contrast. Overall, I am very happy with it and think it gives my car a much cleaner look since the silver parts were scratched up.

Hope you have some ventilation down there. A friend put his amp down there and it would overheat after a few hours.....

Yea has a lot to do with the amp. I have an ED nine.1 down there and it never has overheated. Been there for years. However it does have an onboard fan.

There are liquid cooled heat sync kits. You would just have to run 2 small hoses to the back of a body panel and provide a 5w pump some power.

http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Seidon-240M-All-In-One/dp/B00B20OYUY/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt

I've seen these for under 25 bucks from international sources.

the problem with that route is that the heat sink for computer chips is very small and could not effectively cool a whole amp, you would need something that would make good contact with the entire (or at least most ) of the amp's sink. not to mention, the heat sinks on the amp are almost never as flat and smooth at the top of the processor that the copper sink and pump would need to be mounted too.

honestly, as long as your not needing a serious amount of power, most newer high quality digital amps put off very little heat. did an install in a buddies SUV with a PDX 5ch, and put it in a small compartment (about a fraction of the size as the LS spare tire well) and he cranks it all the time and it hasn't got much more than warm to the touch.

very true!

I've noticed a lot more fully digital amps are not even putting fans in and they still barely get more than warm.

Been working this out, going to flip the end flap up and build a skinny box with these in it to provide the cooling (as recommended with one blowing in and the other blowing out to provide circulation.) I plan on running the fan power off the amp remote through the relay so they only come on when the system is running, more pics to come...

I installed a new stereo (pioneer 4600BT) and the wood trim kit. I only used the trim pieces that cover the silver parts in the center of the dash. The silver parts were scratched up from the previous owner. I also started painting the under hood plastic panels to give the car a cleaner look. The piece is more glossy than the picture shows but not overly glossy. Finally, I just finished installing the Torrie Tunes. The car shifts way better now and the throttle is much more responsive. I have a few more plans for the car at the beginning of next month.
I found this on ebay. they look almost same quality??

For those of you wanting to get rid of water spots on glass, I used this "glass scrub" and it worked great. It did require some elbow grease, but it took all the spots off. I also heard that white vinegar will remove spots, but I've never tried it. Here's a link. I bought it at autozone a year ago but I dont think they carry it anymore.

Thanks Nick, I'm liking that single dual in/dual out setup more than my current two separate Bassani's.
Gives me something to think about when I go to redo my exhaust one of these days (next season prob.)
... but I'd look for a single dual in/dual out Bassani muffler, no resonators, cats eliminated and zeroed out.

~ just a thought for now.

+1 on Marla with the chirping into second.

Headliner adhesive... Good to know. Mine is coming down in the back, noticeable if I open the back windows and air gets under it.

A note about glass treatments - I recently got the McGuires glass claying kit. It's a couple of bars of clay that you press into a disc. There is some cleaning solution that you spray on, then you wipe the clay over the glass and/or paint, then you wipe it clean with an included detailing cloth.

This did make the paint look lighter and cleaner. It's supposed to pick up and remove mineral deposits. However, my biggest peeve is the many water spots that have accumulated on my windshield, windows and mirrors. The kit did not seem to have any effect on these. This confirms what my buddy had told me before, that he knew of nothing that could get rid of water spots.

Also, confirming my previous reading and experience, claying doesn't improve any imperfections in the glass. Essentially, if you get/have a lot of rock dings in the windshield and it is affecting your vision, get a windshield replacement done. Probably covered with no deductible from your insurance company. Ahhhhh, but beware of the leaks. You need to get a guarantee that they will redo it if it leaks.

One car detailing item I picked up that is kinda cool is this 'water blade' thing I got at Target in their car detail section. It's a big, fat, silicone blade. Good for quickly wiping off the water from all parts of your car after a wash or a rain.

I have emailed Bassani not once but twice to see if I could get a dual in/out muffler from them as I do not see it listed (unless has changed) in the universal muffler listing but noticed they do have them in some kits. They never got back to me, must not be that important to sell their product.

Since my car is lowered have to find a narrow (4 inch body) muffler for ground clearance, I had a 5" at one time and was hitting everything. I think Dynomax may have a similar size muffler also.

I finally - finally! - found a pump for the hydraulic fan... 4th time's a charm! (isn't that what they say?)

I should be leak free this weekend and can concentrate on suspension

Had the upper rad hose, lower rad hose, thermostat housing outlet and crossover replaced. With the degas, DCCV and thermostat housing all replaced within the last three years, I should be good to go on the cooling system....at least as long as my radiator survives!

Actually, what they say is only a fool keeps doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. :p If this one doesn't work, look into the electric conversion that other Gen 1 owners have done.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Started getting the LS ready for Fabulous Fords; Meguiar's 105, 205, Menzerna Poly Sealant and a coat of Zaino Z-2.

Actually it was y'day I had the car lowered. The tinting was done just a few weeks ago when I got the car. Pic taken with the cellphone camera, so obviously not the best quality. The color DOES show better though than w/ever camera was used when the 2nd picture was taken by the seller.

The car was clean when I took the picture earlier this evening, but the tires were not shined up, and in my HUMBLE opinion (lol), Cashmere Tricoat is one of those colors you have to see in person to appreciate how beautiful it is!
