2007 Jaguar STR Brakes Confirmed

Hey, you guys do what you want. I'm telling you there is a huge difference in the way the brakes stop the car.

I looked up some numbers to help point out the technical differences.

If you haven't spent the time and money ( as I have) then whatever you post is just tittle tattle.

I repeat, this is the best bang for your buck brake upgrade that you will get on this car.

Looks and stopping power are increased.

Sorry, no more pics right now. I'm working on te next project...

Tires. High-perf, sticky, wide-ass tires, vs narrow all-seasons on the LS.
Well slap some wide-ass, high perf tires on the LS, and what do you got? :p hehe but to be fair he is running some wide, high perf, sticky(?) michelins on those Zeus wheels.

Dwiggy man, wish it wasn't so hard to find these. Other than that one XKR we talked about a while ago, I haven't come close to finding anything else. If you ever come across anything please let me know.

I'll make sure to do some braking tests, when ever I finally get to do this. Some wide, high performance, sticky tires on my Barcelonas should make for some great stopping power.

Mlara I who's the thread would have died lol. I decided to open it up today I never really read everything and now I've just added another expense to my list. But I need brakes anyway so mise well do it all now.

Have you started buying parts yet ?

Thank you for your topic post. I plan to do the this up-grade as well. Once the Powerstops are shot.

^ those are brembos...too bad they don't fit (without major work) seems to be plenty of them all over ebay.

There are at least four sets of these on eBay right now. You can also buy them rebuilt. It's pretty much the same Brembo calipers used on the newer Shelby's and Trac Pack Mustangs and Boss's.

If you look right above your post, the Brembos DO NOT work. The calipers in question are the 06+ non brembo.

Is there anything wrong with buying rebuilts?
I honestly have no idea. I've considered it, however i'm never sure what hardware is missing/indluded, and my current brakes are basically brand new, so I prefer to just wait to find a Jag thats being parted out.

Here's a thread that includes info on getting the brembo brakes plus the STR suspension upgrade: http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=81847

Probably run about $3-4K in parts plus labor but it would be a complete suspension upgrade at that point not just brakes. And that's not counting the guinea pig factor, I.E. you would be the first person attempting it :)

How do these look?
Anything missing?
Damaged?

I have no idea what I'm really looking for :(:(

Wow! How? How?! Lol you're a much better searcher than me.

Looks like all thats missing is the SS brake lines (and of course pads, rotors, and hardware kit?)

Funny thing is, these are just down the road from me.... Right side only though

I found a complete set off a junk car but they want $635 shipped to me  (no lines included)

Guys, you got me all confused now. The bolt on years is 06-09 str or am I wrong? My brakes are basically metal on metal now and wana clear this up before I pull the trigger. Also is it any str of those years?

S-Type R Years are only 06 and 07 (Someone corrected my original post)

2003- 2005 STR (Brembo) brakes will not work.

Hinzy has done some cross-referencing and found that some of the newer XF models have the same part numbers.

Bottom line - if they don't look like the calipers that I posted then they probably aren't the same.

Yes non-brembo from 06-09 "R" models. I think even the surpercharged XF models. Make sure to cross-reference the part numbers before pulling the trigger.

EDIT: The man himself beat me to it. GL on your search.

06-08.

No S types or STRs were made in 09.

Further confirmation...

Recently acquired some Jag R calipers, and finally got around to test fitting them today. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical they would bolt right up(Sorry, Dqiggy) but they do. I still need rotors, and brake lines (prob going with stoptech), but i don't foresee any fitment issues. Mine are off an 06 XJR

Thanks gain for pioneering this, Dwiggy.

P.S. It was already pretty obvious, but I confirmed that stock 17s will not clear the calipers.
