My Bassani Hybrid Exhaust

Forgot to tell you guys this: KC told me someone had replaced the pipe from the header back to the cat and used some ****ty thin pipe (the prior owner). He said I had the reverse of a funnel, where the small pipe was in the front of the cat so he replaced both of those as well. Now that the car breathes better it MOVES and sounds wayyyy better. He told me I would notice a significant difference in the engines responds now, and he's right.

@ jjcool00,

Cool man, you got any pics or vids of those Bassani's yet.

as you may know, I'm itching to get mine done and they are sitting right here next to me.

It's a holiday today here where I live, waiting to make a call on Tuesday for a next Saturday appointment.

Can't wait ...

The pics are on his facebook page... linked above. I did take a video this weekend but my friend who assisted, has no clue how to record a video so all you hear is the wind. Probably doesn't help that I was 200 feet from the beach. I'll try to get a better video together when I can. BTW, I don't hear any drone in the cabin that a lot of members have complained about.

Probably cuz KC now knows which way these Bassani's have to go on.
Offset out on the 4820's.

you don't find it too loud without the resonators ?

I'm still on the fence about the resonator delete.

What did he ding you for that job if you don't mind me asking ?

some clowns here in town wanted 871$ taxes in and were going to do it
with 2.25" piping and clamps, said labour would be 4 hrs.

I said "see ya" to that !!!

He wanted to charge me 567. Got him down to $475. He charged me extra because he had to replace the two pipes before the cats as well. 475 out the door. No it's not loud at all for me. I've hit the highway several times already going 75-85 and I don't hear any issues. You could always delete the resonators then get after market performance ones later. 871 is retarded.

I know it is retarded, told him he had to be in around 450 and insisted on 2.5" welded.
I just told them, let me get out of here, they let me drive it out of the bay.
(after I checked my x-pipe box and asked him if he had put it back)

They had three out of four bays sitting empty, I wonder why ??? LOL

I'm rethinking the resonator delete.

I'm sure you can locate another exhaust shop. Maybe ask some fellow members on here where they got there's done that's close to you.

Welcome to Canada... finding decent shops is tough unless you live in the GTA where people understand and use the internet for reviews and so on. The rest of Canada basically doesn't use it so you have to go shop to shop to find someone decent. That's why I ended up doing the mufflers myself. $260 to weld two on, LMAO!

Well then, drive to jersey and on the way stop in Rhode Island to pick up those Jag rims :)

Wow thats a lot of money. Mine out the door was 175 for stainless. I did supply the mufflers(200), x-pipe(30), and tips(~80) though. When he dropped my old exhaust there was a hole in one of the mufflers. I had him take everything from the cats back off and replace and I love it. I still need to take a video but there is no drone at high speeds and no rattle what-so-ever.

$475??? what exactly did you have done?

Pipe from each header to the cats, pipe from each cats to the X, pipes from the X to the mufflers... Said it took an hour more than yours since he had to do pipe BEFORE the cats.

Just a point of reference also for those of you that are not aware. KC uses either aluminized or Stainless pipes, not regular cold rolled steel that will rot in a year. So when you are pricing take that into consideration to ask the person. Aluminized is as low as I would go, the regular steel is garbage esp. for us Northern states.

Welcome to Canada...

???

A little late but thank you :: bows before you.

... been here since December of 1981, paying taxes since '83, white as white can be.

A little history on the shop I went to.

A friend of mine is a licensed mechanic and used to work there,
he moved on to another shop closer to his new home. (long time ago)
Where he works now, they don't have the ability to bend 2.5" pipe.
(think he said up to 2")

He recommended his old shop to me. Turns out it was under new Management.

I don't know why thoses fools thought they could charge so much.

either way, I didn't owe them anything and left.

~ not going to stand there and argue with a bunch of thieves.

Plenty off other shops around this big city.

Since then, got two other referals, one I plan to speak with tomorrow about
a next Saturday appointment and this guy apparently is well known for
custom work on many hot rods and such.

Don't know this guy but I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

If not, I'll simply keep looking ...
don't think I need to go to the GTA to get custom exhaust welded in.

We all know SS installs are more expensive.

I'm not putting crap pipping on this just to safe a few hundred.

My finances are just dandy and I know a bad deal when I hear/see one.

Not going to just throw money away cuz I have plenty.

I knew when they said 871$, they were trying me.
as a matter of a fact, when I said I would be on my way,
there was some background noise about other options.

of course then comes the new reduced haggle rate but already
too late and deaf at that point, because I'm no fool and already
knew at that point what was going on there.

Best to split and try else where.

:: insert new photoshop BigRigLS trolling plaque here please ::

Thank you M4rk :p

jjcool,
so when are we going to meet up? I want to hear your exhuast lol. I've yet to hear mine while the car is rolling.

i'd love to be able to get a comparison video between my exhaust and yours to see the difference the high flow cats make.

You tell me bro.. I'm usually tied down heavily during the weekends in the summer though, due to the beach. But weekdays are fine after 7-8. Work long hours :( If not then mid September.

Wish me luck guys, Magnaflow tips came in and I'm heading for a shop in town to get it done tomorrow.

had already been one day this week, in the early evening down to visit and we had
it up on the hoist to see what we could do/ what I wanted.

no problems he says, have all the SS in stock, pipe bender, 425$ cash, no receipt deal.

4 hours he said. normally doesn't work weekends but does for cash no receipt.

I hope all goes well and I can get this on, it's been taking too long.

the tips and bumper cut-outs concern me a bit but if he can't make it happen,
I'll just settle for down pipes tact in and revisit later when I have more time.

:: Fingers crossed.

ohh and Res. delete for sure, mind made up.

= I get to play with my new Bassani Custom Exhaust maybe Aug 22nd / 2012

Aghhhgggggrrrr ... :: pulling hair

We'll they are installed. res deleted, tips installed.

However .... it's throwing a CEL on the dash, blinks and goes away during WOT.
sounds like it missing or something, doesn't like WOT since the exhaust job.

I'm actually surprised, it's not all that loud as I thought it would be,
sounds great, nice little rumble, no droning.

We've been having a lot of rain here lately, so perhaps my K&N filter got wet.
It's doesn't like to do WOT, when I do it gets into this muffled misfiring state
until I back off, doesn't do it with a roll on.

seems to lack power now.

Might need new COP & plugs I can only guess.

I'll use my buddy's OBD reader and get the fault code when I get back.

I'll also get some pics and a vid up but sorry guys ...
I'm a bit rushed to get the rig all set up and I'm leaving for a 3day drive out West of Canada.

It'll have to wait until I get back ... give you guys a break from me for about 10 days or so.

good hear you finally got them on.

as far as the CEL, sounds llike maybe water in the COP wells, which means its time for new COPs and plugs.
