Make sure they do the later fix, the first speed control recall solution was to just unplug the switch - disconnecting your speed control.

What should I do about the local dealer that told me my Mercury has no recalls, but in fact has the speed control recall? I have the Lincoln that has two recalls on it wonder if they will lie about that to.

I would write down the website i gave you. take it to the service manager. go to that website on their computer and show them.
Or go to a different dealer.

That was never the solution they put out to fix it. Unplugging it was an intern (temporary) solution until the switches and harness's were made and stocked in enough numbers to do them, becasue it was a fire hazard if left hooked up wether used or not...

Somewhat. If you unplug it and it leaks, it can leak bad enough if it pops to be like having broke a brake line (say that 3x fast, lol...) The fire hazard will be gone though...

close call on both my marks
I had 2 93's both started smoking and almost started on fire I pulled the battery cable asap on both and it was a week apart that this happend and I did some research and learned about this recall about 2 years ago and on one of the marks they had to replace alot of the harness cause it was burned so bad, they had the car a day and a half.looks like my 94 has been fixed already
