whats your guys opinions on the differences in sound/performance between one muffler in the middle (with an x) 2 in 2 out dual exhaust or 2 muffs out the back?

I run both and the are from Magnaflow, the purpose was to keep the drown down, and get the cross over advantages as well.

Just a mid muffler will give you a high RPM rasp to the exhaust. Nick had it on his Mark VIII and he and I both had it on our LS's. They were all Magnaflows. I've since changed it to an X, Aero Turbine resonators and Bassani mufflers out back. Not overly loud, no rasp and you can tell it's not a stock exhaust.

You can hear what I'm talking about in this video of Nick's LS -

Magnaflow dual in dual out where the third cat used to be and run 2.5 out from there. I think its quiet but sounds good when your on it. I don't get a high rasp? I loved having just the exhaust off after the midpipe - about 3-4 feet after the third cat, it sounded just like a mustang with straight pipes, but wayyyyy to much droan and no real performance.

When i had my car with trual dual no x pipe it sounded like a harley davidson and also no power incrase i dont think.

I would go dual in dual out magnaflow with 2.5 custom piping or just do a magnaflow x pipe with custom piping out the back if you want something a bit louder then i would pop cherry bombs or mufflers on the end if its too much.

I am very satisfied with my exhaust. Cost me 300 bucks and i put down 237 with no tune - just conical filter exhaust 160 T stat screemin demon pacs and FFRP wires. Exhaust definetly had the most impact on perforamance. I dont have a device to record sound. I'll see if my buddy wants to bust out his digi and get some video - Ryan
