Haynes and Chilton's are the biggest joke on the planet... I don't know where they get their information from, but I tossed my manual for my 86 merq when they tried to tell me a 4.6 was an option in 87. Um, FAIL...

Big +1.
Best thing I've done to date was junking the Chilton and getting the Ford workshop manuals.

people who have to figure out what type of engine is in their car by the vin number should not be working on their car, WOW. I come from a 12 year+ ford mechanic (brother) and a father who rebuilt a couple cars from scratch. I dont like to put people down, but daaaaaayum.
