Stang GT against a VIII?
My woman was drivin' my '94 Mark VIII, and said some guy pulled up in a mustang and wanted to race. My question is how do Mark VIII's, stock, handle against stang GT's?

From what she showed me, my guess is about '96. Is there an engine difference of the 4.6 for the 2 cars? and how much diff in the body weights in the 2 cars performance?

You say dont worry as if the lincoln will stomp the stang GT. do you know what kind of times are typical of a '94, M VIII?

Here is a video of me racing my nephew's 5 speed 98 GT vert. He did some mods to it, but not in the traction department
The Mark vs BS3

2 different engines
the gt has a 2 valve per cylinder 4.6 v8 iron engine
and the mark viii has a 4 valve per cylinder 4.6 v8 aluminum engine.
96 gt has 215 hp and weighs about 3400 lbs
94 mark viii has 280 hp and weighs about 3750 lbs
bone stock race for both cars, the mark should win by a little every time, thats with stick in the gt,if the gt is auto ,not even close

Thanks. My Mark is way far away from being stock anymore. I thought you would like to see what a standard shift GT does with street tires. Not much of anything in first gear but spin... IIRC, that GT has 373's, King Cobra clutch, PI heads, headers, etc., and does much better when it hooks at the track.

NPI Mustang GT (1996-1998) w/ M5 trans vs Mark VIII is close enough to be a drivers race. If the GT driver can shift then they will probably edge ahead of the average stocker Mark. It should be a pretty good race.
PI Mustang GT (1999-2004) Will take the average stock Mark no problem with equal drivers. It will not be a a race measured in bus lengths but the GT will usually have a decided victory stock for stock.

the stock 96-98 gt is pretty slow.
the 99 up is pretty quick.
pre 95 is usually not stock and the 93 and earlier stangs are light!
had no problem smoking a 96-8 with my mark and i know it at least had exhaust mods. guy jumped at me,i blew his doors off then slowed down.when he caught back up,the look on his face was priceless !
