I'm pretty sure I have a leak in the system. I filled it with R134 and lasted for about a day and newer really got cold. Now back to HOT air when AC is turned on. I know I need to pin point the leak, but what are the common leaks points on the 98 to 2002 Continentals?

I think this is a common problem, but after trying to adjust the rusted retainer clip on my fuel filler door it broke it off! Can anyone confirm if this is the correct part number (LINCOLN 5W4Z5428608A)? I found them on ebay for $23 shipped. Thanks, Chet

So I've read that the bulb for the analog clock on the Contis is a dealer only part so after confirming this I'm going to replace it. Is there any trick to getting the upper dash plate bezel off without damaging it? Thanks

My 2001 steers hard at times, seams to be worse under braking conditions. Should I focus on the PS Pump, vacum leak or is there a rack and pinion unit? Motor is also somewhat noisy, but I can't pinpoint witch pulley it is.

Not sure how an engine tuner would cause serp belt to squeal under hard acceleration, but could the belt or one of the accessories like the alternator be loose? I can't wait to start doing some low dollar mods to this beast just for the fun of it!

I know there are not many performance parts or upgrades avail for the Contis because they're not hot rods and the FWD trans can't handle massive output, but has anyone achievable a legit 300 horsepower or more, have you Dynoed it and what mods did you do? Chet

I know some of the Continental like mine (Base model?) came through without the heated seats option and I know you guys probably have different opinions on them, but I almost past on an otherwise near perfect 2001 because it didn't have them. Has anyone ever retrofitted the heating elements...

Hope you got the cooling problem fixed. Can anyone confirm if the 99 cobra water pumps flow more and are they compatible with the Intec motors? I think my water pump is very noisy and if I decide to replace it I may as well upgrade. Chet

Update: After changing out the oil sender switch for a new one and blasting the undercarriage at the local car wash the low oil pressure light is now staying off and the faint oil smell is gone.

Changed out the oil pressure sender switch witch seamed a bit wet. I also put in some 5W30 weight oil which may increase the pressure as well. Will keep you posted. Chet

At this point I can't afford a repair shop so can anyone provide a picture of the oil pressure switch/sender unit or describe the location of it and I will try to change that out. Thanks, Chet

Just wanted to add that I noticed a burnt oil smell when the car is running. This started the day after the oil pressure lite came on. Could the oil pressure sender unit be leaking onto the exhaust? Also, if this were an oil pump failure or a dirty screen, wouldnt I get a solid always on oil...

This sounds very ominous, I checked the oil level and and its was only a 1/2 quart low. What needs to be checked or what action should I or can I take before any damage occurs? Whould an engine flush with Marvel Mystery oil or Sea Foam help?
