Yes - I have been using a G-Tech Pro Competition for years now (same as the RR model).

I have used it at the 1/4 mile track and it is within 1%. I also use it on the Auto-Cross coarse - it has a neat G feature.

i used to use one of those when i raced. they are pretty damn accurate

I see Autometer has one out now too that fits in a gauge pod. Also, Escort/Passport has one.

How is data passed to the unit? Is there a port it has to plug into like the OBDII port? I just wondered how the data is captured on the unit.

no it doesnt use any ports. All it needs is a cigarette lighter. It does the calculations by itself. you just to have it level and input the weight of the vehicle. its pretty cool.

I have one it's new in the box, got it for christmas and never used it, I just moved and suring the moving process found it again. Just happens to be sittin on my dining room table as I haven't found a place to out it yet! Let me know what you want to offer for it, meanwhile I will try & see what it's worth approximately. Which one do you have? I'd be interested in it.

right - no input from the car other than the lighter (for power and tach read). It can give you shift lights and lateral G threshold warnings.

The Pro Competition unit has a three way acceleromter - so it can measure change in speed, on the 3-axis. It does not have to be level.

You input the cars weight, ... stuff...

You can then replay the runs on the unit or download the data to a PC and use their PASS software.

You can find one on E-BAy for @ 26.00 plus frt. Its the original model that has an LED readout instead of the screen. If you buy the one that G-Tech on E-Bay (there are several dif. sellers) they have updated the software so its current. I had one and it worked real good until someone stole it. My buddy had the Competetion version and the screen was hard to see in sunlight. With the RR version, you can download data to your computer.

would u guys recomend one, and if so is there a huge diff between the ss and the regualr gtech pro models. for 26 bucks it sound slike itd be pretty cool to have around and test out buddies cars. input please

forget the g-tech pro model - it only has two-accelerometers and has issues with needing to be level. The competition model is much better - it's the old RR model.

I have the older style one. I got it off of ebay about a year ago for $30. It was pretty accurate. I ran a 16.3 in my old crown vic at the track...with the G tech it clocked 16.4 and that run i had my subs in the trunk......I'd get the cheap one....its fun to have around

I had not realized you can get them so cheap, I got this one as a gift. Maybe I will plug it in & use it, I was afraid to use it cause I thought it was worth around $150!! :L :slam :Beer
