I'm looking for a vin decoder on my 79 mark v, I want to see if it was originally painted white or blue because It's collecters series, but I have no idea where to look, I've checked google, but came up with nothing.

1979 VIN decoderFaust July 4th, 2005, 11:19 AM I'm looking for a vin decoder on my 79 mark v, I want to see if it was originally painted white or blue because It's collecters series, but I have no idea where to look, I've checked google, but came up with nothing. Dereck July 4th, 2005, 11:41 AM Hi Faust Post the paint code from the VIN sticker and I will give you the paint color. There are four colors that the collectors series was painted white, dark blue, diamond blue and silver. Regards Dereck Faust July 4th, 2005, 08:59 PM Which part of it is the paint code? Also, If it isn't collectors series if you could tell me that would be nice, I'm starting to doubt it because the grill isn't gold, among some other things... edit: Meh what the hell, I doubt it matters, 9Y89S729525 thamarkman July 4th, 2005, 09:27 PM Do you have collectors series interior? Faust July 5th, 2005, 07:58 AM Do you have collectors series interior? I'm not quite sure, I havn't seen any other Mark V's up close so I have nothing to judge it off of. But, it's a Navy Blue crushed velvet (i think), with some THICK ass carpeting. edit: Also, It doesn't have the 1/4 windows, I don't think any of the Collectors Series did, but I could be mistaken. Hi Faust Sounds like a collectors series interior, my collectors series also has the vent windows so some of them did ;) Your vin number decodes like this; 9Y = Year = 1979 89 = Body Serial code = Mark v S = Engine = 400ci (M-Block) 729525 = Sequential unit number The paint code is in the lower left corner of the Vin sticker on the drivers door http://www.members.aol.com/user875651/79ContiVinSticker.jpg In the picture above of my Vin stsicker it is the 38 just above the 53B Regards Dereck Faust July 5th, 2005, 01:13 PM Unfortunately, I dont have one of those stickers, the guys who decided to mod this car really didn't think it through. Dereck July 5th, 2005, 04:31 PM Hi Faust I geuss there is no chance of a build sheet being hidden under the rear seat or trunk liner, of maybe behind the steering column cowl either.
