I am in need of a new battery,current one is a motorcraft OEM type battery. So what has anyone found that is really good. What cold cranking amps reserve power? Brand name and what auto supply sells unless you recommend staying with Ford's battery? :feedback

Optima Yellow top is what I would recommend if you have, or plan on anything more than what the factory had in the car electrically. If you do not have, or do not plan on electrical upgrades then you can go with an Optima Red top. :Beer

I assume you have a Mark. These cars call for batteries with a minimum of 850 cold cranking amps. The Optima is a great battery but does not have 850 cca's. Ford's battery is excellent and is made by Johnson Controls, the leading battery co. in the world. You can go to Advance Auto and pick up their Titanium series, part no. 65-2, which is this same battery, and save a little money. It has a three year free replacement and 84 month pro rated warranty.

Johnson Controls makes Optima, as well as the Wal-Mart batteries. I am running a MAXX-1N, or something like that. It is the largest battery you can get from them, with 1,000 cca and is what the Mark VII calls for. It is an excellent battery, and has a 3-year warranty. At $60 you cannot do much better, either.

Still, and Optima yellow-top is more than worth the investment. Since they are closed-celled you never have to worry about the possibility of the battery acid leaking and eating through your car, and they have a 10-year warranty. Go with that and you will not be disappointed.

I recommend Interstate that's all i run in my cars.

CCA's, cold cranking amps, are always rated at 0 degrees, not 32 degrees. It is cranking amps that are rated at 32 degrees. Cranking amps are obviously always the higher.

I have a yellow top optima rated at 750cca, I dont use it as primary battery in car, but im very impressed with it. I have it powering my sound system and let my friend borrow 1 of the circuit breakers so it wasnt getting a charge anymore, and it played for about a month without any noticable difference in sound without being charged. It also didnt die at that point, I just got the breaker back so it was getting charged again. They will defently last alot longer then a reg battery before loosing there charge. Only powering about 1000 watts atm, and drove around 30mins a day, I doubt a reg battery could perform that long without a charge =p. But as my primary battery im using a interstate, I got it free brand new so I couldnt complain and it seems to work just fine. I think its around 875cca.

I use an Optima Red Top. It's more cash, but they're worth it. A couple regular lead plate batteries may have more CCA, but the Optima will outlast them after multiple drain downs. The sealed design is great. You could mount the thing sideways if you wanted. You will lose your battery hold down bracket if you use an Optima, but if you get a universal battery hold down and bend the J hooks into Ls, you can get it all to work quite well.

I found this also to be the best buy for the money as it comes with a full replacement, not prorated for 3 years. So at this moment in time I am going to go with the Advance battery. Thanks for the part number. I think they gave me a price of $54 or $59 installed.

I would recommend Optima batteries, I use two of them in my joint.
i have yellow top in all my cars.
smaller, same power, drycell, doesn't hit the radiator neck.
