But there is a list of things to be done before. SOON ! I think you should have a group buy for a complete diff with posi and 4.10's, along with the Denny's driveshafts and sell em for a reasonable price ! LOL. Might not be a bad idea, but maybe a lot of work and time in which you already have none of... :Beer BlackIceLSC June 16th, 2005, 11:20 AM Blackice's one legger smoke show VIDEO! I love my mark and like the power but for a mustang or any ford to hang with a gm.. they need to have boost, one way or another ford does not have the power gm has. Yeah, that is what i think every morning when I smoke all of those so called high performance GM's on my way to work. Corvett's, Impala's, Malibu's. No matter what you have, someone always has something faster. But when I am in the Mark, they may be faster, but they are always outclassed. I love it when I am in a parking lot or at the car wash and all of the GM owners go out of their way to come over and comment on just how classy my Mark is. driller June 16th, 2005, 11:59 AM I don't get much smoke from my Nittos and posi. I was talking mainly about newer gm's.. late 90s trans ams and vettes and ss camaros that stock run mid 13's and a lil work w/o boost can be in the 12's.. you'll never see a mark be in the 12's w/o boost unless you strip the whole car down to a seat, a engine, and a steering wheel. Lincolns Own June 16th, 2005, 12:23 PM ok, this might sound dumb... but how do u do a burnout? (im 16 and my parents wanna keep me away from the fast stuff but im coming out of my shell. teach me! :) ) K*A*B June 16th, 2005, 12:35 PM yea impala's arn't that fast and neither are older vettes.. They always want to compare Vetts, Camaro's, and Trans Am's to Mark VIII's. But that is OK. Those of us who know how, do. Those of you who do not know how, brag about what you do not have. I will put my driving skillz up against most drivers out there. I have beaten many cars that should have spanked me only because my skillz are honed. They buy the hardware, but dont have the mental software to get the job done. Yes ladies, sometimes size does not matter. rmac694203 June 16th, 2005, 01:44 PM I thought Marks weighed like 3800 pounds, not 4200. Maybe I'm wrong though. Now who is faster? The Ford GT has already hit 10's and 133 mph traps stock, the Z06 by all estimates is 5-7 mph slower. 5 spd Mach I's are pretty much dead even with stock LS1's. Anyone who thinks Ford can not build a fast N/A engine is smoking crack, the 400 hp crate modular 5.0 and the old 385 horse 5.4 in the "R" proved that they can, they just chose to do give enthusiasts what they wanted. The 500 should match the Z06's 1/4 mile speed with very minimal mods, though it will never handle like the Vette. I'm not talking about crate engines you can order... engines actually put into production cars.. gm has ford beat.for now at least. klutch June 17th, 2005, 01:59 AM It isn't always about power take the new grand prix gxp 303HP/312TQ its more powerfull than the new GT which has 300HP/320TQ (it still takes gm 5.3L to make 3 more HP than ford makes with 4.6L) but what good is 303HP/312TQ with Front Wheel Drive its just asking for trouble. so see Horsepower isn't everything (can anyone say Torque Steer?) I'm sure most would choose the cheaper mustang with 3 less horsepower over the overpriced (like all gm vehicles) grand prix. Wouldn't You? unstoppable June 17th, 2005, 08:42 AM I'm not talking about crate engines you can order... engines actually put into production cars.. gm has ford beat.for now at least. K*A*B June 17th, 2005, 02:22 PM and i guess i was wrong to think you weren't talking about just lincoln's with a quote like this don't compare the imp cause its slow, compare the older marks with newer vettes and camaros but i can't read yea impala's arn't that fast and neither are older vettes.. BlackMark8Li June 17th, 2005, 02:43 PM and i guess i was wrong to think you weren't talking about just lincoln's with a quote like this don't compare the imp cause its slow, compare the older marks with newer vettes and camaros but i can't read ok you have a point.. sorry. lincolnboy June 17th, 2005, 05:25 PM The photoshop job was just to give me an idea of how it was going to look. I finally got off my butt and the real deal is starting to come together. No way in hell you can get a DECENT mini tub job for 500 bucks. To buy a set from Summit is 69.99 X 2 just for the material. Now if you find a guy who will cut out your existing fender wells and weld/rivot in the new ones, then you found a guy who doesnt know what he is doing.Cause no one that knows what they are doing will charge only 360 for the amount of work it takes. they is a local guy i ask him already,... and what kinda car i had...i know that is not going to cover the other materail needed....but since i dont have the mk i wont know how much its going to cost......know!!! GT40MkIV June 17th, 2005, 05:30 PM If GM cars are so technologically superior to Fords, then how come the 3 fastest production cars in existince are Ford powered? The McLaren F1 isnt fastest anymore, that title goes to a Sweedish supercar called the Konisegg and it has a 620 horsepower supercharged 4.6 DOHC in it. klutch June 17th, 2005, 06:15 PM the stripped out interioprs were meant to be w/o boost.. which if any of you have read nmy posts should have seen what I was talking about... new factory production gm's cars vs new factory ford cars ... ford can't compete unless they have boost. I'm not talking about crate engines you can order... engines actually put into production cars.. gm has ford beat.for now at least. You keep talking about supercharging what is wrong with supercharging? I am not a fan of Turbo's or Nitrous Oxide but what is wrong with Supercharging? BlackIceLSC June 17th, 2005, 08:09 PM wow...I came to this thread looking for more burnout vids...instead I see a bunch of Ford vs Chevy crap. C'mon gang... let it go...This place is too cool for bickering...now stop typing, and go film more burnouts!!! JC1994 June 17th, 2005, 08:17 PM Worst case of key board war I have ever seen!!! face it, you can't win every race!! no matter what you drive!! buddylee June 17th, 2005, 08:25 PM I just spoke with my friend who was telling me about how for years GM has putting some crappy motors. His 2000 chevy truck , need a new motor less that a year after he got it new. He told me of about 4 other guy with chevy trucks with same type of problems Anyone think of buying a GM look up Silent Recall. klutch June 17th, 2005, 08:38 PM Not a war more of a discussion I don't hate GM I like a few of there cars actually but Ford is the superior vehicle imo I mean look at limo companys they must choose lincolns over cadillacs for a reason? BlackMark8Li June 17th, 2005, 09:08 PM You keep talking about supercharging what is wrong with supercharging? I am not a fan of Turbo's or Nitrous Oxide but what is wrong with Supercharging? nothing is wrong with it at all. if I had money I'd get it in a heartbeat. my only point is ford supercharges everything to compete and yet gm builds up on all motor. now nitrous I hate mainly cause of people with slow pos imports get it and think there car is the fastest thing on the road theres good and bad to gm and ford in regards to engine life. I had my mark engine fail at 86k with a broken rod... yet my 93 had 150k on the clock and still ran stronger than anything. buddylee June 17th, 2005, 09:16 PM Not a war more of a discussion I don't hate GM I like a few of there cars actually but Ford is the superior vehicle imo I mean look at limo companys they must choose lincolns over cadillacs for a reason? Let's post some BURNOUTS !!! buddylee June 17th, 2005, 09:54 PM read # 18 Johnson Vs. GM (http://www.badsoftware.com/johnston.htm) Silent Recalls suck [18] The plaintiffs averred that GM knew of stalling problems in the model truck in question and did not alert its customers. Instead, they asserted, GM issued a "silent" or "unpublished" recall whereby it informed all of its dealers to replace the PROM with a newly designed PROM if a customer complained that his engine stalled. [19] GM stated that no defect existed in the truck or the PROM and that in fact, the engine was running and that Lewis negligently drove through the intersection causing the accident. GM claimed that it did not issue a silent recall, but had simply improved the PROM and had merely informed its dealers of such improvements. [20] At trial, Lewis testified that as he started driving through the intersection, his truck stalled. Lewis said he saw an 18-wheel, tractor-trailer truck fully loaded with logs approaching the intersection from about 700 feet away. Lewis claimed that he put the truck in "park" and tried to crank the engine, but that the engine would not start. The driver of the tractor-trailer truck testified that he blew his horn, then steered the truck into the left lane in an attempt to avoid colliding with Lewis. The tractor-trailer truck struck the pickup truck on the right side. BlackIceLSC June 17th, 2005, 09:57 PM I mean look at limo companys they must choose lincolns over cadillacs for a reason? I run a Limo company. 20+ vehicles. Trust me...you dont want to go there. yes, we run Town Cars, not GM vehicles...but not because of the reasons you think. Oh, and from 2003-on, The T-car is a giant heap of donkey dung. That settles it... I'm going to have to go to our lot tomorrow, and film some LIMO burnouts!!!(and yes...they will!) klutch June 17th, 2005, 11:54 PM I run a Limo company. 20+ vehicles. JC1994 June 20th, 2005, 09:44 PM Talk about one leggers,I did one a couple of years ago,on the street I live on, more smoke than a Sea Foam tune up!!! The black mark was about 200 feet long!! And you can still see it on the street! I know I pissed some people off there was no wind that night and the smoke just hung in the air!!! LOL!! :Beer Grifter June 21st, 2005, 09:22 AM i'll have to get a pic of the Mark with 315's on it :) no, they arent staying on there.. just a set of 17x10.5's i had laying around with some worn out 315's on them.. amazingly they fit on there pretty well.. only the ebrake cable was in teh way.. fab up a bracket to pull that out of the way and they would clear.. NYC LS8 June 21st, 2005, 10:49 AM I don't see the need either, but I've done them. To come in here to a forum of cars which you don't own is gay. You're a moderator - act like one. Hey im just speaking what comes natural. When you open a thread you expect comments. Not all comments are going to be the same. (Good or Bad) That is why we are not all the same. Alot of things wouldn't be the same in todays world if one mind controlled all. 67Continental June 21st, 2005, 12:03 PM and judging by this thread, most comments will have nothing to do with the original subject. JC1994 June 21st, 2005, 07:31 PM :thread: StraDog June 21st, 2005, 08:20 PM I basically just made this thread to show off a few pics I had from the weekend before. I rarely do burnout's, so when I got a few pics of it in action, I thought it looked pretty pimp, so I posted em. I didn't want to start a GM vs Ford b!tch fit, nor anything else really. Just posted a few pics and it turned into something else. It's all good, relax. Dern Humpus June 21st, 2005, 08:56 PM You keep talking about supercharging what is wrong with supercharging? I am not a fan of Turbo's or Nitrous Oxide but what is wrong with Supercharging? What the hell is wrong with a turbocharger? klutch June 21st, 2005, 08:58 PM Turbo Lag. there may be improvments but its still there. And I don't have to wait to turn off my car with a Supercharger. 67Continental June 21st, 2005, 11:32 PM you don't have to wait to turn off your car with a turbo either, you can run a timer like many people do. turbo's and supers are two ways of looking a the same problem and they both have their place in different applications. klutch June 22nd, 2005, 12:39 AM yes I know about turbo timers (I own a turbocharged vehicle) and I will never buy another one its either supercharging or all engine for me from now on. I will never buy another turbocharged vehicle as long as I live. 67Continental June 22nd, 2005, 10:43 AM what turbo car do you own, out of curiousity. klutch June 22nd, 2005, 05:02 PM No bashing me :p but its a 04 Mitsubishi Evolution 8 which I am going to sell soon (I don't know when and how much before anyone asks) 67Continental June 22nd, 2005, 06:14 PM i would never bash you - that's my japanese dream car. they are not legal for import in canada. i wish they were. klutch June 22nd, 2005, 06:23 PM :O not legal thats some crap, They are great cars I don't regret buying it at all (even tho it is turbo'd) AWD is a plus to. I am just going back to RWD V8 because I can work on and tune them myself. Can't say that about the evo lol | ||||
