I think its a bit to much. You need less. The car ones look good. But up top there is so much to choose from. I don't know where to post. . .

But up top there is so much to choose from. I don't know where to post. . . :F = When I Have To Choose! I agree regarding that top section -- IM trying to find a way to condense them. any suggestions? Sifrino3 May 29th, 2004, 11:04 PM They all seem great. But there is some that are not going to be used as much. We need something like. A main Dicussion forum. There is to many to choose from. If you keep it simple. More people should start threads. If you are unsure where to start a thread. Most likly you will not even start it. mdnitedrftr May 30th, 2004, 12:53 AM I gotta agree, there are alot of forums. Heres my suggestion: Keep the site basics Lose the members playground Condense the community disscussions into 1 "lounge" Keep the classifieds Keep the Lincoln and Cadillac forums Lose the other cars and all around car info forums...Any of those questions can be asked in the "lounge" Members rides, leave that there Chapter requests, lose it, that can go in the lounge too And leave the vendors forums alone Joeychgo May 30th, 2004, 04:04 AM anyone else have thoughts before I start making changes? Sifrino3 May 30th, 2004, 09:13 AM Thats a good plan! hottweelz May 30th, 2004, 09:19 AM That setup will be a lot less intensive on your PHP Databse too... Sifrino3 May 30th, 2004, 12:02 PM I like your flag! hottweelz May 30th, 2004, 12:07 PM Thank you, it's a work in progress though :Beer MonsterMark May 31st, 2004, 11:00 AM People won't usually volunteer "changes" but will speak up if they don't like something. So I say go and change things as you see fit and when we don;t like something, we'll whine about it. How's that. Midnitedrftr had some good ideas. Joeychgo June 1st, 2004, 01:41 AM I gotta agree, there are alot of forums. Heres my suggestion: Keep the site basics OK - No problem there Lose the members playground The members playground will have more meaning in a few months when we offer a membership option. Only paid members will have access and it will be more for membership discussions. Condense the community disscussions into 1 "lounge" Trying to find out how to move the posts already in there - there are quite a few to move. Keep the classifieds Ok Keep the Lincoln and Cadillac forums OK Lose the other cars and all around car info forums...Any of those questions can be asked in the "lounge" What If I condensed into one "Other Cars" section? Or should I just delete the whole thing? Members rides, leave that there Since we have the member's photo garage - cant this go? Chapter requests, lose it, that can go in the lounge too Chapter requests will be soon be replaced (hopefully) by individual chapters. But you will only be able to see the chapter you belong to, not all of them. And leave the vendors forums alone If you say so. :) I cleaned up and combined a few forums, like tv & movies + Music & concerts.... Eh, its a start.. :) :feed MonsterMark June 1st, 2004, 01:51 AM I agree with everything you posted vs midnitedrftr. Line by line. Go with what you have right now. I think it is a good start. It can aways be finessed later and I think it is way to early to predict everything that people will want. OldSchool1 June 1st, 2004, 07:50 PM I think its a bit to much. You need less. The car ones look good. But up top there is so much to choose from. I don't know where to post. . . :F = When I Have To Choose! I disagree. Sifrino3 June 1st, 2004, 09:51 PM How so. . . apbpetey June 2nd, 2004, 06:57 PM Here are some of my thoughts. For the Lincoln area keep it simply by having Mark series, LS, SUV, Town Car, Conti, and Other Lincoln. Then if you want break it into more specified areas in each types area. ex, Mark series-drivetrain,exhaust,electric,general. Caddy area: do same as above for the models. then have a section just tagged Non-lincoln/caddy, but don't break it into anymore detailed areas. Label the above auto area or something. get rid of member photos, keep member's rides though. lose Front page news and Contest areas. They can be posted on the home page or if model related they can be posted in their respected spots or they can be posted in anything goes. Move the bar into anything goes. In Community area have the following: artwork/photoshop, sports, music/book/TV/movies, events/meets, anything goes, politics, for sale/trade/wanted, audio visual, track times. Just some of my toughts that might make it easier to figure out where to post/look for stuff. Also keep a members only area if we are going to the paid membership route. Sifrino3 June 2nd, 2004, 08:03 PM You can't do it with the Mark Series. They are different and if you start mixing them. It will just make it hard to figure what you talking about unless you write in each time which one you are talking about. apbpetey June 3rd, 2004, 08:28 PM You can't do it with the Mark Series. They are different and if you start mixing them. It will just make it hard to figure what you talking about unless you write in each time which one you are talking about. It would take alot of room to do something separate for each series of mark. You could do it as Mark vii, Mark viii, and then combine the earlier mark series together. Like I said just some thoughts I had as to how to condense some of the forums. Sifrino3 June 3rd, 2004, 08:31 PM Not each Mark have its forum. Just VII & VIII. Bcoz they will be used alot. Unlike the MV. Joeychgo June 3rd, 2004, 08:35 PM Not each Mark have its forum. Just VII & VIII. Bcoz they will be used alot. It will just make it hard to figure what you talking about unless you write in each time which one you are talking about. That is why I said in my last post that it could be set up as 3 separate areas. 1- Mark viii, 2- Mark vii, 3- All other marks. If you don't do it as 3 then where do those that have earlier Marks post about their cars??????????? :F Sifrino3 June 4th, 2004, 09:01 PM Other Lincoln's. Hahaha. I agree with you. I thought you we're saying something else. . . Joeychgo June 4th, 2004, 10:09 PM You can't do it with the Mark Series. They are different and if you start mixing them. If you don't do it as 3 then where do those that have earlier Marks post about their cars??????????? :F Dont forget we have a good number of LS people, and even a few TC people....... Overall I think the car area is set up about as good as we can get it. I cant see how it becomes better. If we start making sub catagories, that'll add more forums -- if we start taking forums away - people wont be sure where to post. Keep in mind guys - we are 3 months old. Im doint alot to market the site and have ALOT more planned. WHat we need is not more forums or less forums, we need technical posts. We need to be talking about the mechanicals of our cars alot more then deciding if we have too many or too few forums. THAT is what is gonna get people talking and keep them talking. -- THAT is what will make or break this site guys. Sifrino3 June 4th, 2004, 10:39 PM I like how the car forums are and would have done alot of picture taking when I added all my new components. But due to the fact that I lost my digi cam. It could not happen. I was going to take pictures step by step. Even though they are pretty easy modifications. But I do agee. We do need more tech threads! Joeychgo June 4th, 2004, 11:03 PM I think its mostly a matter of habit. As we are a new board and many of us are on other boards, we havent gotton in the habit of posting tech stuff here. If everyone makes an effort to make tech posts, you'll see the threads fill up fast. So please everyone, try to make that effort and post tech stuff. Think about future members. Give them something to find. Everyone try to make a few tech posts. Biocow June 15th, 2004, 01:17 PM question whats the difference between: - the bar, general discussion, anything goes Joeychgo June 15th, 2004, 01:32 PM The bar is more for future - when we actually have a paid members area. General discussion and anything goes -- my thought was anything goes could be for funnier kinda stuff -- general discussion could be for more serious stuff. Those were my thoughts when I made the forums Biocow June 15th, 2004, 01:37 PM The bar is more for future - when we actually have a paid members area.
