Tranny cooler

I havent done anything to my tranny yet and I'll be running an 80 shot here and there, would an aftermarket tranny cooler be something I should look into? Is anyone else using one? If so, where did you mount it?

Yes, lots.

Behind the grill, before the radiator. It should come with brackets and other hardware. Go with Tru-cool, Summit Racing, Hayden, or BMM fan-cooled. 40,000 GVW should be more than sufficient...

deffinetly use a trans cooler , i completely bypassed the stock cooler in the radiator
and actually noticed the engine runs cooler
i mounted mine in front of the condenser and radiator

Do you mean that your radiator isn't even hooked up now? I am interested in doing this also but I know nothing about it.

I got one and installed it yesterday, my stock cooler and aftermarket are running in series, the aftermarket after stock.

No.

There's a stock tranmission "cooler" as part of the radiator. Look for two metal lines on the driver's side of the radiator - those are the transmission lines. What he did was bypassed where it goes into the radiator and just ran it straight to the aftermarket cooler.

I had one on my 87 LSC back when it was still an auto. Very wise investment and I'll have to get around to installing that same cooler into the 95 some time.

Oh...excellent! So the tranny doesn't use the radiator cooler anymore, which frees up the radiator for just the engine, causing it to run cooler, right? That's a great result for $30 or $40!
