1wykdmk8 May 19th, 2004, 08:05 PM Ok.....here goes....I found a company that will do custom hoods for the Gen 1 Mark VIII's (actually ANY car, it is all up to you). Now I am going to try and get a consensus on what ppl would like as far as a custom hood is concerned. After I get the consensus of what kind of hood ppl might want, I will go farther with it and find out who is actually interested in the hood. This company can do small orders, or large. We will need at least 10-15 pre-orders (to offset the cost of the mold), before we can go any further than just this poll.
If you do not see in the poll the kind of hood (Mark VIII hood that is) you would like, then post it here, email me, inbox me, or try a photoshop for ideas.
Let me know what you might want as far as a custom hood for your Mark VIII, and we will see what can be done. Most likely it will just be a Cobra "R" hood like you have seen in the past, and what is/was on my green car....here is a pic of that hood:

viiiball May 19th, 2004, 08:53 PM how bout the vents that are on the cobra...like the gts? can we put those in?0 :Beer
1wykdmk8 May 19th, 2004, 10:42 PM how bout the vents that are on the cobra...like the gts? can we put those in?0 :Beer
We can do just about anything we want, but it will have to be more of a general consensus....meaning, the more ppl want the same thing, the more likely it could happen.
I would like to see those vents myself, but if we do not get enuf ppl interested, pre-paid and interested in the same things, then not only will the specifics not happen, but the hoods themselves will not happen.
Lets get some ppl interested in this. Like I said, only 10-15 ppl are needed for this to get off the ground and running.....then after the mold is done, the company can make them one by one........a bit more expensive that way, but you get the idea.
98lincmk7lsc May 20th, 2004, 01:06 AM i would really love to have one for my gen II. is there any way that could happen? :?

viiiball May 20th, 2004, 05:15 PM I like the suncoast creations mustang ram air hood i'd like that, geno said it would not work though.

Sifrino3 May 20th, 2004, 05:17 PM Thats a cool mustang hood. I have never seen that one before. . .
viiiball May 20th, 2004, 05:36 PM yeah and i think it would work with the mark and be functional,if you use like an lms set up or another which deletes the factory air box and uses a heat shield and a seal, then fresh air could come in throught he hole over the filter if you know what i mean
Thats a cool mustang hood. I have never seen that one before. . .
Joeychgo May 21st, 2004, 10:03 AM IF there is enough demand, we can make more then one hood --- so 2nd gen people - we would need another dozen or so 2nd gen owners to make one for you guys.

I hear AZTEC. I'd go for a hood similar to the 69 Shelby GT-350/500 Mustangs or 70 Mustang Mach 1. It would look like it belonged, not tacked on.
98lincmk7lsc May 21st, 2004, 09:56 PM ok so, let's say that only a few of the 2nd gen owners want to get hoods.......how much $ would we be talking? also, what if another dozen get them.....how much $ then? I'd like to know
:L
Joeychgo May 21st, 2004, 11:32 PM some of the specifics have to be worked out I believe - But IF I understand correctly, they'll be $600-650 a hood - regardless of the car thats made - we need 12 to make an order for the guy to run the hood.
If we want a hood for first gen and second gen - we'll need 12 of each.
The big thing is - as long as we have 12 of the same -- we can have the 12 designed anyway we want.
This is mostly 1wykdmk8's doing -- He did all the legwork here so please be sure to thank him for trying.
mdnitedrftr May 22nd, 2004, 12:20 PM Id like to have a cowl hood like this.

courageouslion April 25th, 2005, 09:02 PM I was looking at the early pics of OneBadMKVIII and really liked the hood with the two small scoops vs the one that he has now. Don't get me wrong...having his Mark hood reminding me of one of my first cars, the 1969 Z28 isn't that bad!

Markviiiedrea April 25th, 2005, 09:28 PM i want one like the itasca mark with out the scoops, except where it meets the windsheld have a lip like a cowl hood woud have. i just want all smooth lines.
67Continental April 25th, 2005, 09:33 PM i want something like the tasca mark with no cowl or any kind of crazy air induction look to it. the only reason i would change my hood is to fit a supercharger, so any hood that allows a supercharger to clear without a cowl is fine. some kind of bubble or powerbulge or something.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I'd buy one like that right now if it were reasonable priced. the lines on this car SCREAM sleeper, I think scoops would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to ricer on these cars.
Cubster April 26th, 2005, 06:43 AM The Cobra R for me, however, I'd like it to be a functional hood, ie: open at the windshield with a screen so no debris can get in
lincolnboy April 26th, 2005, 08:13 AM HERE.... http://forums.modulardepot.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35133&perpage=20&pagenumber=5
crash April 26th, 2005, 08:23 AM For the gen 2's, I would like something like that one in the link above. Just make that bulge in the stock hood a little bigger...you know, to fit a positive displacement blower.
Lugi20 April 26th, 2005, 12:45 PM If you can provide me with the exact dimensions that a hood needs to be to line up correctly, I can try to design a few different things with SolidWorks and if it works out I'd post the rendered hoods on the forum. Its always nice to see what they look like before you pick up a hammer. Let me know.
Tractionless April 26th, 2005, 01:54 PM Gen2 Cobra R for me please! Got the $$ right here for ya!!

I already found the hood I want. I am pretty sure this member is on here but I can't find him, I hope he's ok letting me post his picture.

(OK...so what is the trick to get a picture to show up instead of the code?)On the reply screen there's an icon that looks like a mountain. Click on that to "Insert Image". In the box that pops up, type or copy the address of the image. If you manually typed in the code, it would be "", then the address, then "". Here's the image you were trying to post:

StraDog April 28th, 2005, 03:14 PM Some more pics of the cobra R hood.
phreakness April 29th, 2005, 11:52 AM I think se should look at this from an apples-to-apples perspective.
To me the Cobra R hood looks great on GEN1's on the above pictures but that hood on a Gen2 would be too sharp, out of place, and would look a little to ricer on the smoother lines of the Gen2 in my opinion. I think the closest I would get to that Cobra R type hood would be this one below
http://www.lincolnmotorsport.com/gallery/MarkVIII/images/thundermark_jpg.jpg
But If I had a choice it would be the super mark power bump / bubble / hump etc.
When I put my motor in I will be modifying whatever fiberglass hood I can get and do the power bubble just so I can keep the lines of the car as close to original as possible. I like the sleeper look and the cobra R hood is just advertising, “Race me!”
JoeyLincolnMK8 April 29th, 2005, 12:04 PM i would defiantly be interested in the cobra r hood for my gen 1. when im squared away for money i am down.
Scorpio1118_2000 February 4th, 2007, 12:46 AM Why not design a cowled hood that has a nice scoop with chrome trim to compliment our cars, and have it to where you can have it color matched if you wanted?
Calabrio February 4th, 2007, 02:32 AM I think it would be important to note what the price of a new hood will cost for a run of 15. Doing so might prevent the "Yeah, I'll definitely get one" false votes from people thinking it'll only cost $150.
jdlmkviii February 4th, 2007, 08:05 AM Any updates on this? I will def. be looking for some sort of hood in not too long...
Scorpio1118_2000 February 11th, 2007, 09:19 PM I think that this is a dead issue there is just not enough people out there that are willing to lay down the green.
It would be nice though.
