Road America...Interested in running YOUR car???

Road America!!!

Best and longest track in the United States. Anybody interesting in running their car on this baby in October.

$350 gets you about 8 x 20 minute runs on the track at WOT or whatever you can handle. All you guys that like to 'street race' can let it all hang out there. Some guys log 300 plus minutes over the 2 day weekend!

I think I am going to trap (I mean- Invite) Ron to bring his Lexus so I can spank that thing. But that would probably void the warranty or something. Wouldn't want those GS's going any faster than the double nickle plus ten.

Let me know who might be interested in seeing what their car can really do.

All you need are good tires, no oil or tranny leaks, 3 point seatbelt, a helmet, long pants and a willingness to have the time of your life. And of course, 3+ clams.

Mark VII vs Mark VIII vs LS for best lap time and the bragging rights that go along with it.:wrench

Bryan,

I've raced on Road America before. It would be nice to go..but it would be a waste of $350 bucks, as I'd be driving up front all by myself with no one to race with. October in WI is beautiful for those who haven't been. Road America is one of my very favorite tracks in the US I've ever raced on. It's beautiful and fast. I'm actually going to be there on the 1st weekend of June. http://www.roadamerica.com/

You'll be mesmerized by them. I rolled my Datsun there not Once, but Twice. After I cut the roof off to make it a convertible, I never got it back together. The whole chassis was stolen without the motor and suspension. They carried the damn thing out of the shed. I couldn't believe it. It was a sad ending to a very satisfying ride and my first love.

Brian,

Stop with the silly talk. Unless you've done major, major mods, you really have no choice. I'll try to talk some sense into you. Stock, my GS makes more HP. But far more important, is the stock Mark has about the same skidpad rating as a Camry. I'm WAAAAY up there near a BMW M series. Never mind my Brembo brakes, braided lines and PBR Ceramic pads. Add to the fact I've put performance coilovers on with 18" tires with fat-ass treads, and you really don't have a chance. That doesn't even take into consideration my tremendous driving skills, which are far superior to yours. So come back to reality, ok?

Now we're racing our keyboards with mods.

Come race time I'll be running some 4:10's in the stock diff so I am come off the corners and hit it hard. That will take care of your hp issue. I'll be running a 1-1/4 front, 1-3/8 rear Adco setup on the bars. Already have the stiff and sticky Yokos in 235 form taking care of the pavement issues. I'll spot you the Brembos unless I find a deal on a stang setup then I'll switch out the whole caliper/rotor combo. Braided are nice. Keep things nice and firm. May have to look into doing that now. One can never be firm enough, if you know what I mean.

Already have the ceramic pads grinding the rotors front and rear. And your heavy ass 18"ers won't do you much good with the fatties getting up to speed. As far as experience goes, and I've been on the track since my 1st 260Z back in '79. I will admit though to being green in the Mark as I haven't had the 2nd gen on a road course yet. Only any enticing back stretch of road I can find. So you have an advantage there unless I pick up some seat time.

I have been running carts quite a bit so my entry and exits are up to snuff. I think it will come down to the gears and if I can run a couple of bottles in parallel or not. I think I can make up some of the time in the straights that I might brush off in the corners. I don't know. This is something that may have to happen, one way or the other. Got to represent yo.

Brian,

Oh..I forgot to mention I'll be running a limited slip differential with 3.76's in it, and a 2800 stall converter. And my 18" are HP Racing Evo Lightening, which are lighter than the stock 17's. I think I have you covered (easily). The Mark is just too much of a boat. Even with your Addcos, you can't match the cornering of a STOCK GS. I'll spot you the track knowledge, as I have only raced there a half dozen times in the last 10 years, and all times were on a bike. I hope I can make it, though the last time I raced in Oct. in WI, it was damn near snowing..so I won't be looking forward to that....

Bummer. I don't think the stall will help you that much. The mark is a boat but sports alot of high-tech aluminum parts so for its size, as compared to lets say a Stang, is only a hundred pounds or so heavier. I have the track knowledge but that also includes 2 rollovers so the place has not been friendly to me in the least. I like the motivation. I think we'll have to see what's up.
