Hey Tina, I was wondering why you faced your DD towards the trunk when competing in SPL. Maybe you know something i don't because i am building an enclosure and am going to fire my DD into the cab. I am going to build false floor and roof and completely seal off the trunk... LMK why you chose to fire into the trunk... BTW i am about to run a DD MT12. Its a DD 9512 that was reconed by RE with MT.

I am planning on doing 2 subs ported through the rear 6x9 locations, and most people I talk to say to have them face the trunk and not the cab, said it will add a few more db's but I can't give you a real answer as to why.

if your going to face them forward use a bandpass box

The technical reason it usually sounds better with them facing rearward is because the wavelenghth of the driver is so long it takes that long for it to go rearward and then basically bounce off and come back forward again.
Well, I know that wasnt technical, but I was trying to word it so everyone would understand it.
Luckily I live in vegas and Dave at RE reconed a JL W7 for me awhile back but now I'm going to use a RE XXX 12 ported through the rear deck of my Lexus and put about 1700 watts of precision power to it!! :)

No, bandpass is used to block/filter frequencies. I plan to use a single compression chamber horn. Either that or an areo ported ABC. Anyways i know the concept behind firing towards the trunk and getting longer waves. David from RE reconed my DD too. I have a RE MT with a DD motor.

unless your enclosure's port fired directly into that spot it wouldnt do muck. The seats are specifically made to dampen sound from the trunk. Drive with them down one day and you will her tons of road noise.
