I purchased an 05 LS Luxury 2 weeks ago and have a question regarding the head unit. The Luxury model, as most of you know, comes with the single disc/tape deck unit, not the 6 disc unit. I am looking to replace the current unit with the Sirius ready 6 disc unit. Is it possible to swap the single disc/tape deck with the 6 disc unit? I am not looking to replace any other components other than the head unit and have been told that this is not possible.
I realize that I would need a new dash trim plate to surround the new unit.
Any help would be appreciated!

I know it can be swapped for the 2000-2003 model years, so it should work for teh 04-05' years. I'm sure someone else can confirm this.

Thanks for the response. Anyone else have more info? I do know that the 2004+ 6 disc head unit are Sirius ready, so I'm not sure if they changed other components as well.

I bought the "conversion" kit for my '06 w/nav. It was ~$300 (LLSOC price; +$8 shipping) and is plug and play. It added the SAT buttons on the touch screen. I would imagine the kit would work the same for the non-nav system. If you're interested, send me an email and I'll put you in touch with my supplier.

I swapped the single disc/ tape deck with a Sirius ready 6 disc unit purchased on e-bay (there is one on there right now). Installer set up with Sirius / no problems. 2004 LS

I believe the secret to the swap is stay with the same year radio as you have. SAT radios were 04 and up if I'm not mistaken. You can't put an 04 radio in an 02 for example...and vice versa. You should be able to go 04 /05 to 04/05....as long as you use units that power the speakers, sub, etc the same way. You CANNOT swap out a Nav unit for a 6 disc because of the difference in the way the audio system is powered and wired. (not that you would want to do something like that anyway...)
