Sport or Non-SportV-8 May 7th, 2005, 01:16 PM How do you tell if you have a sport or non sport model? SurfjaxLS May 7th, 2005, 01:22 PM If the bumpers don't have a chrome insert, it's a sport. Also, sst is only available in sport. If you have a 00-02', just see how fast it can go. If it passes 133 you've got a sport. V-8 May 7th, 2005, 01:33 PM If the bumpers don't have a chrome insert, it's a sport. Also, sst is only available in sport. If you have a 00-02', just see how fast it can go. If it passes 133 you've got a sport. Cool, so i have the sport. No chrome, and i have the SST too.... Thanks! SteveSC September 20th, 2011, 08:24 PM The 5 speed manual only came in sport. To sum up the differences: No chrome on the bumpers, sport shift if auto, 17" by 7.5 rims (five spoke) versus 16" by 7 (6.5 maybe), firmer shocks. Did I miss anything? I guess the speed limiter is different but I have not verified. What are we saying 133 on non sport and none on sport? I speak for the Gen 1 on the wheels, some gen 2 owners will have to chime in about their wheels. scjmc September 20th, 2011, 08:27 PM I dont think that any gen Is had a limiter. I think the limiter only applies to Gen IIs. 01continental September 20th, 2011, 08:43 PM '03-'05 also had these wheels stock. Sport models only. The car below is an '05 Sport LS8. jmtiseo September 20th, 2011, 09:43 PM Sport, by going off my car, sst, v8, no chrome on bumpers. Speed limiter at 133, possible for all gen II's. Makes no sense to call it sport, then throw a speed limiter on it. jdmans101 September 20th, 2011, 10:34 PM believe sport models had leather shifters and steering wheels too. Travis2000LS September 20th, 2011, 11:03 PM Okay.. Yes Gen I's have Rev Limiters in them. IDK About speed limiters though. I think The Sport Model of the V8 had a higher speed than the Stock V8 non sport did.. Anyways Sport _____ No Chrome on bumpers. Leather Shifter and Steering wheel. Speed Limiter Removed (I think). Stiffer Suspension. SST Electronic shift. Sport Silver Wheels *V6 Sport had 5 Speed Man Transmission* Non sport ________ Part Wood Steering Wheel. Wood Shifter Knob. Sloppyier/Squishyer Suspension. Speed Limiter. Chrome on Bumpers. Yep thats about all the differences joegr September 21st, 2011, 08:01 AM ... Non sport ________ Part Wood Steering Wheel. Wood Shifter Knob. Sloppyier/Squishyer Suspension. Speed Limiter. Chrome on Bumpers. Yep thats about all the differences There is a premium sport, and it does have the part wood steering wheel and shifter knob. TDUB September 21st, 2011, 11:17 AM There is a premium sport, and it does have the part wood steering wheel and shifter knob. +1. It was possible to have a premium sport which still has the chrome on the bumpers. It would also have the 5 spoke 17" rims in chrome, "perforated" seats, and the woodgrain steering wheel and shifter knob as you mentioned. De-marko September 21st, 2011, 11:50 AM Also, I believe the Sport had the 3:58 gears vs 3:31, bigger front sway bar and the oil cooler and came with a supercharger. jmtiseo September 21st, 2011, 12:00 PM Also, I believe the Sport had the 3:58 gears vs 3:31, bigger front sway bar and the oil cooler and came with a supercharger. They did a good job hiding it under the plastic engine cover. Doesn't even have a whine to it. cammerfe September 21st, 2011, 12:36 PM The speed limiter was due to the tire rating. Because the tires on the Sport are not rated so as to cause a problem (my '02 Sport came with 17" rims and Michelin Pilot Sport tires) the limiter was non-existent. Top speed on my car, minus the spray, is beyond 150, and I hold the Maxton (one mile) record in class at 140.106. KS De-marko September 21st, 2011, 05:40 PM They did a good job hiding it under the plastic engine cover. Doesn't even have a whine to it. Just seeing if anyone was paying attention. LS4me September 21st, 2011, 09:12 PM Mine has 3.07:1. This has been discussed many, many times before. The manual is the only stock Ls with a 3.07 gear. All other V6's have the 3.58. MOST V8's have 3.31; the others have 3.58. SteveSC September 21st, 2011, 09:20 PM As I stated, mine has 3.07:1. It is completely stock, except for a k&n panel filter. 1LoudLS September 21st, 2011, 11:40 PM I dont think that any gen Is had a limiter. With all the trimmings chrome in bumpers v6 and pollished 16" wheels. The 17s in that year were an option, over and above any other package package. I have that car so I know it exsists. I did the VIN check to see what my car was and got a sport model. It had the leather shifter, chrome on bumpers and polished 16" wheels... I always get confused because I keep seeing that the sports didn't have the chrome on the bumpers in 00.....maybe its just me. kaball December 29th, 2011, 08:39 AM I did the VIN check to see what my car was and got a sport model. Silver_LS December 29th, 2011, 09:05 PM My (now gone) 03 Premium Sport had chrome 8 spoke 17's, no bumper chrome, woodgrain trim / steering wheel / Shifter, v8 with 3.58 gear. oddball December 30th, 2011, 09:16 AM I have a 02 and chrome and when I did a check it was a sport model.... The ONLY year for a FACTORY premium sport was 2002. It had the appearance of a non-sport with the sport "goodies" underneath. It also had basket-weave seat inserts. Since most parts are interchangeable between the generations the only sure way to tell how the car came from the factory is with a VIN check. kaball December 30th, 2011, 11:56 AM This has been discussed ad nauseum. I have seen bits and pieces here and there but never a full out discussion before. I think Ford just added to many options for the buyer lol. joegr December 30th, 2011, 12:39 PM This has been discussed ad nauseum. The ONLY year for a FACTORY premium sport was 2002. LS4me December 30th, 2011, 04:33 PM Weird. My 06 is a premium sport. It's not really a premium sport. It is an '06 with the Premium Option Package; since all '06's (and all '03+ V8s) are "sports". Additionally, when Lincoln changed the available arrays in '03 they changed the option packages. The non-sport V8 and sport V6 were eliminated in the U.S. market (Canada had more arrays thanks to the confusion of the American buyer). So..... for '03-'06 the two option packages were Ultimate and Premium. Again, as pretty much all body parts are interchangeable things get interesting when owners customize their cars. ToeCutter December 31st, 2011, 05:33 PM according to my window sticker...the premium is not an option to the sport but a standard equipment group...it doesn't say premium under options, it says it under standard equip.........so I guess there is an ultimate equipment group http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/3037/premiumsport001.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/706/premiumsport001.jpg/) 99 KOBRA January 1st, 2012, 10:29 PM according to my window sticker...the premium is not an option to the sport but a standard equipment group...it doesn't say premium under options, it says it under standard equip.........so I guess there is an ultimate equipment group http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/3037/premiumsport001.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/706/premiumsport001.jpg/) My wife's '04 is a V8 Sport. The window sticker says "order code 220A - V8 Sport" instead of "V8 Premium Sport - 222A." Her "Standard Vehicle Price" is $39,460.00 and yours is $43,520.00. 01continental January 2nd, 2012, 12:44 AM ALL 06s are sports regardless of option packages. There were 3 '03 V6s running around that were sports, but I imagine they are long gone. There was some type of a cold weather package that was available that came with 16" wheels. 1LoudLS January 2nd, 2012, 11:55 PM http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f159/RaulMonkey/Animated/beating-a-dead-horse.gif 1LoudLS January 2nd, 2012, 11:57 PM how about this, anybody that is confused which model you have should just post "ME" and someone will be around shortly to exchange your Lincoln with a camery... | |||||
