dropped74 April 30th, 2005, 12:47 PM What if you just add the x-pipe with a higher flowing muffler but not the 2.5 inch pipe that everyone is doing. Will there be any difference at all. Also what if you just add the x-pipe and nothing else is there going to be any gains. I have no intake so I was just wonding. Thanks for your time

Quik LS April 30th, 2005, 12:58 PM the x-pipe is the last piece I would do.
the mufflers, then the piping to 2.5" (or 3"), then the x-pipe.
going to 2.5" piping only added $90 to my total cost

What kind of mufflers can I get that are not going to make it any louder or if it does get louder only at wide open throttle, or even maybe just a small increase in decibals. By the way thanks for always sharing your atounding amount of knowledge.
Cheers

What if I put in the X-Pipe with the 2.5 inch pipe and removed the resonators would that do what I want. I want more power but I do not want my car to be too loud. I don't mind louder but I do not want annoying loud. I get that in my 74 with a 390.
Quik LS April 30th, 2005, 03:57 PM mufflers are static - unless you use the type in the new Z06 vette that open a flap under WOT.
the stock mufflers are 2.25" inlets so if you replace the piping you'll need to replace the mufflers.
the biggest hp gain is to swap mufflers, then piping, then x-pipe.
you're gonna end up sounding loader no matter how you do this - but if you use a Borla muffler it will be quiter than the Magnaflow which is quiter than Flowmaster.

SO I should be looking at the borla or the magnaflow mufflers. Thanks alot quick.

you would leave your stock exhaust in place then flip a switch - and have straight pipes...:Beer

I saw those on trucks and that is probably what I would put them on. My old 74 ford. I just don't want my car to get to loud at interstate speeds. my wife bitches about it and I hear her bitch enough without bringing it on myself, lol

So, what does this exacly do?

allows you to flip a switch and shunt the exhaust out bypassing the mufflers - increasing hp.

Very cool stuff and make a really quiet car loud very quickly.

Without question! It'll be like a freight train inside the car.
lexdiamondz10304 April 30th, 2005, 05:20 PM So, it would be like having no mufflers at all at the touch of a button?
