K+N oil killed my stock MAS! My fuel mileage went to crap because the wire kept getting dirty with filter oil. When I cleaned it the MPG jumped up.

I have ben using K&N filtration since the 80's and never once had a single issue in any way shape or form. The only problems that can arise are from user fault, meaning someone OVER oiled it after cleaning it.

anybody had any experience with Accel's Kool Blue or Fram AirHog filters?

I refuse to use anything by Fram, as I had an oil filter of theirs on my GF car (2000 Mazda 626) and the filter pretty my destroyed the engine after the oil filter self-destructed. never ever again. Luckly fram replaced the motor but it took for ever and they only reimbursed me for 70% of the rental van.

If you are looking for a replacement air filter i have a k & N that I used for a very short time that I will sell to you for half what I paid....$20, I paid $40. I used it for maybe 1000 miles before upgrading to the lms cold air.
You probably won't notice much power 'boost' but it's better than replacing them every other oil change (in my opinion).

I saw an ad for lexus that they now have filters for that in their new cars, and they made it sound like new technology, which is weird because you would think something as simple as that would have been introduced a long time ago.

And I also wanted to ask what movie your southerland quote is from....jfk?

The Italian Job.
Yup thank you, I picked it cuz I trust no one any more, and to me it makes sense because you never really know some body, also the one in "Pirates of the Caribbean" has a good one out the only person that tell's the truth is a dishonest man because you can count on him to be lying. :soapbox:

So I'm guessing there is no filter for the interior?

For the rest of my car I use pure one oil, air, and fuel filters never had a problem they work very well. Never use fram though.

OnebadMk8 (Geno),

I took the K+N out of the box dropped it in and my gas mileage dropped with it. I cleaned the wire in the stock MAS and it went up for about 15 mins, dropped down again, cleaned again fuel mileage up. Thats my experiance with K+N I refuse to use them anymore. If anyone wants it for free I'm in West Palm Beach, FL come pick it up!

Welcome to the board Alex. I would check out LMS' website. There are alot of things on there for a decent price. A really worth while mod for the 2nd gen, is to swap the stock intake manifold, for a 96-98 cobra system. Compared to the 1st gen's it's a cake walk to do. Stick around, and youll find out what works, and what does'nt.

For the record, I have never had a problem running K&N style filters on either of my marks, or any other vehicle for that matter.
