ok, It turns out that I only have four speakers, the ones on the doors, is this the base stock system ?. I have a 02 v6 with the indash 6cd changer, no audiophile.I took off the upper cover on the trunk to discover to cutouts for some 6x9's which I want to add, because it doesnt have them. Does the base system have only 4 speakers? or did the previous owner take the 6x9's off?, because it seems like the previous owner had a bass enclousure in the trunk since he left the rca plugs and speaker wire.

right - you have the base CD system.
The OEM rear subs were in a big, heavy plastic shelf that held both subs and the rear 85w amp. it not a big loss - the subs were crap and the amp didn't give a lot of power.

Yes, I haven't done it yet but I used this site to hook up an amp to my 2001 stock Vette system. I later replaced the whole thing but this wiring kit is easy and it works.

yes. what you need is an amp with ligh level inputs, and speakers.
or an amp with rca inputs and a high to low level converter.
Here is an awesome amp at a good price to drive all your speakers...

6 channels, you can upgrade your door speakers and have a really really nice sound system.

I honestly wouldn't put any back there. If you do 2 6x9 subs you wouldnt get very much bass, but a little. If you do a full range speaker it is going to mess up your sound stage. I'd focus money on the 4 doors.

:I do what i did have 3 pair of 5x7s and put something in the trunk to give it the bass you want. maybe a 10 or a 12. that way youll get all the highs and mids evenly.
