The neon on my '97 is acting up. When the lights first come on, the neon flashes then goes out and stays off. It won't come on when the brakes are applied, but it will flash like it should if I activate the panic alarm. Will something like that throw a code if I have a diagnostic run on it? Any ideas?

Sounds like the ballast is going out. There was a guy on www.markviii.org selling them cheap, try a search over there.

You'll still need to clear-up that condensation, or you'll damage the replacement. The guy's name is glitch, and he sells the inverters for $85 each with instructions...

Any idea how tough it is to do this fix?

hey guys,
i might be way off here,but does anyone know if you can use parts from the mid 90's explorer neon brake light for marks?

i was thinking maybe atleast use the ballast,there is like a bajillion 95-96 explorers around.
