any tricks to removing the transmission in mark viii's
i'm pulling it out tonight , just trying to see if there may be an easy way
will i have to drop the tank to get the driveshaft out , i'm sure the exhaust is in the way

the only way short of dropping the gas tank to get the driveshaft out is pull the 4 bolts out of the differential and let it hang and slide the driveshaft back.it goes just far enough to come off the trans

that would be great , i don't need it out , just out of the way

Yep, I do the bolt thing and drop the diff down. Just enough room to get the yoke off. You do need the torx head drive though. I forget the size.
