my Lincoln LS has been making a weird sound. when i roll the window up, it makes a thump. it only does this when the window is all the way down. any ideas what it could be?

a common TSB for pre-03 LSes was replacing broken window regulators - especially the rear windows, but even the fronts were re-designed.

when they broke - the window typically fell in and could not be rolled up - not just a noise.

I have a 2000 Lincoln LS. Why would the window make the noise only when it was all the way down? Doesn't it take the same power to roll up the window whether it's all the way down or say halfway down?
