I was doing a search the other day and there is a video of how to do this step by step on there.
klutch April 15th, 2005, 01:07 AM Yea, I have found sufficient material to show me how to disassemble/reassemble, Just now sure where to buy transmission parts or if any special tools are necessary.

most of the tools are lip seal protectors.the rest can be substituted. fords protectors are exspensive. try looking on the net for aftermarket lip seal protectors for an aode/4r70w ,some of the same sights seel all the parts you need to. :Beer
BlackIceLSC April 19th, 2005, 09:54 AM Also, I might add...try to find one that is toast, and not even a candidate for rebuild. use that one as a "practice". The main reason I say this is, when you encounter something as odd as a "anti-clunk" spring in the 4R70W, you can practice on the demo model, before you practice on the "plan to use" model.
I say perform each step, one at a time, to each tranny. Remove front pump on one, then the other, and do this all the way.
If you have 2 trannies side by side, one you plan to use, and the other you dont, you can screw up on one until you know you got it right, then do it right on the one you plan to use.
trust me when I tell you...learning on the tranny you plan to use is one thing, but when you are doing something for the first time, try it on something you dont plan to use...then once you master each step, walk over to the tranny you DO plan to use, and do it, knowing you got it right.
I have a 4R70W with bad forward clutch seals. I plan to completely disassemble it, but not until I have a known blown unit right next to me. I have already done some mods to a 4R70W, but I have never been elbow-deep into the case itself.
THATS next.

THATS next.good idea, also youll have hard parts that could be use and select fit snap rings for clutch pack set up.
