GM Shutting Down Plant for 3 More Weeks

General Motors is shutting down its Arlington, Texas assembly line for 3 more weeks this year. This means the plant will be closed at least 9 weeks this year. GM's goal is to reduce its backlog of sport utility vehicles.

The Arlington plant in recent years has built popular SUVs, such as the GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade, but soaring gasoline prices have softened SUV sales. The Arlington plant employs about 3,000 workers. They'll get 95% of their base pay during the breaks, which GM calls downtime.

Bring back the Camaro/Firebird line as what it was meant to be...all engine/no frills...

Then advertise the dang thing for a change and maybe, just maybe, you'll make money off twentysomethings with a little pocket change and a huge desire to leave smokescreens at stoplights...

Just a thought...

I agree - there are enough unsold SUVs - I'm tired of those things anyway..Never was a fan of SUVs either.
