I have a 96 tc and I bought one of those portable cd players with the car kits and I inserted the tape inside the deck and it doesnt play. It reverses the tape continuously and then ejects it. I've tried more than one tape adapter and nothing works. If any1 has had this problem let me know if there is something that I can do to make it work. I'm planning on getting a aftermarket cd player deck eventually but I was just tryin the car kit for right now.

Just wait for the aftermarket kit. Ford radios give you $hit when you try insterting those tape adapters. Same thing happened in my Cougar and Crown Vic stock stereo players...

Hey, I have that same problem, mines a 95 and it keeps going from side a and then side b. I might get a factory cd player for it. I heard its easier than an after market because the fact. has the same plug ins. Later

I had the same problem with ALL the generic adapters. Then my wife got an XM for her PT that came with an XM branded adapter. It has some internal workings that fake tape movement and works fine in my 96TC. I use it for my 20gig MP3 player.

Make sure you get the newest model, XM only! The others won't work in our Lincolns.
