Raped Ape January 25th, 2011, 11:14 PM Just a thread for conversation only.
What was your 1st car and do you still have the desire to own one again.
Mine was a 1972 AMC Gremlin X, with a 304 V8 w/727 torque flight x-mission. I used to get teased all the time when I had it. I bought it with paper route money saved when I was 15 in 1984. But it was soooo light that I used to tear up local cars on the street with it.
I would love to find another one to do a build on it and lavish in the memories once had.
Hear a pic (not mine) of one:

Aquabrit January 25th, 2011, 11:29 PM First (legal) car I owned was a 1988 Ford Orion 1.4 GL. (Euro version of an Escort saloon)
Caught fire with me in it and was promptly replaced with a Nissan. Buddy bought it off me cheap and replaced the engine and wiring. He totaled it with me in it during a police chase.
No, I would never own one again.

Dude I did a search 2 times to see if a thread like this was open, and came up empty handed. That blows.:repost::eek2:
Aquabrit January 25th, 2011, 11:37 PM That thread was for the LS section - they seem to like segregating themselves.
Raped Ape January 25th, 2011, 11:38 PM If a MOD is available, you can delete this thread. I searched and found nothing, but I was wrong, useless now.

Rodewaryer January 30th, 2011, 10:12 PM 1964 MGB, bought it and learned how to drive in it. Didn't leave a scar or anything, might consider another 'B' if the conditions were right.....don't have any surviving pics but this one is same color and right wheels....

I learned the 'basket' method of travel - I carried a basket where ever I went, so I would be able to pick up the pieces that fell off the car ;)
I would never, ever own one again.

Bob Hubbard January 31st, 2011, 09:17 PM Obviously my very first car was around long before many of you were a gleem in your daddy's eye.
My first car, when I was fresh out of high school, was a 57 Ford fairlane 500 sunliner.
The one pictures wasn't mine, but it's just to give you an idea what it looked like.
Mine was dark purple where this one is darker blue, and white where this one is lighter blue.
Mine had a black/white interior, with a white top.
Back then, I took very few pictures, and those got lost over the years, but this one , right down to the continental kit is what my first car looked like.
I started working at thirteen , and saved every penny I earned, so when the 57 fords came out in October of 56, I knew that was the car for me, and I paid cash for it.
You can click the image to enlarge.

Psychostang February 1st, 2011, 04:35 AM My first car was a 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2 door coupe.
black96lsc February 1st, 2011, 05:55 PM My first car was/is my '96 LSC. I've had it for over 2 years now and it's is a joy to drive everyday. I think if I bought another Mark, it would be a pearl white gen 2, or a black on black gen 2.
topher5150 February 1st, 2011, 07:40 PM my first was a sapphire blue 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic with matching rally rims, it had a 307 V-8 automatic transmission, power windows, power moon roof, power seats, AM/FM cass. Loved the car but wrecked it soon after I got it. I've been looking for a pic of something that looks like it but can't find anything quit close

A Bobcat?
Well, yes, drive 'em like you stole 'em... and no better car would work with that idea than a Hillman...

If yours had been anything like the one in the pic I think you'd change that last line.
V-Tally February 3rd, 2011, 05:40 PM My first car was a 1992 Lincoln Town Car with something like 340,000 miles on it, I blew a crankshaft bearing on it. I didn't have a license when i had that car. My first car (as a DD,in theory mine) with a license was a honda s2000. Bad ass little car, but you feel like a sardine in it. I would definetely own a 1992 or 1993 (had one of those too, mint condition) Town car again.

slowmkviii February 6th, 2011, 01:17 PM First car i purchased was a 1985 Ford Thunderbird with the big old 3.8
I would love another one with a BBF and a F3R procharger

It actually was a little rocket - light weight - decent little engine - RWD - dual carbs - dual exhaust - 4 speed, but, really, parts fell off of it all the time, and of course it had Lucas wiring.
I did learn to fix cars on the Hillman - it was as simple as it gets - and since it was such a 'cheapie' I always figured I couldn't really hurt it by trying at least.
