Sifrino3 May 9th, 2004, 06:40 PM I started driving my car yesterday. Havn't drove Sifrino in some time. So, I drove Sifrino all day yesterday and figured I would drive it through the weekend. My regular is 19.1mpg. But all yesterday and today its been stuck at or above 19.6mpg. Not a bad thing. But must be the wheather or something. We really don't have snow here. But the last time I drove her. It was in the 50-60 degrees. Now around mid 70s to 80s. Im happy and just speaking out loud. Put a good 100 miles on her and took her out last night. Beating a very nice looking/sounding Eclipes. Also, got a comment from a restored SS Camaro guy. While sitting at a light. He said, "your car sounds great. What are you running in it?" I said, "Five-ohh."
My hoods off as of now. Getting ready to do some work. His car was beautiful, to bad there were cops at every corner. (It seemed like) Didn't see him after that. A very nice two days while drive my baby. Good to get her out of the garage!
Joeychgo May 9th, 2004, 07:24 PM LOL Consider yourself lucky -- I get about 13-14 mpg
Of course, 90% of my driving is stop n go, and when I go I GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO---------------!!!!!
:V
Sifrino3 May 9th, 2004, 08:08 PM All yesterday it was stop and go and to the floor.
maxmk8 May 9th, 2004, 08:52 PM 21.5 mpg... mostly highway with occasional city and stop and go.
JoshMcMadMac May 10th, 2004, 12:07 AM I'm reading 21.4 mpg right now. That's with about 3,000 miles into it. That is 200 mile trips on the highway through the mountains, as well as beating around town, with a lot of stop-n-go traffic. I get 23-25 on the highway most times, and 18-20 city. I bested 26+ when I made the 9 hour run north to RI two years ago.

Same here, Mine has been fluctuating between 15.3-15.6 MPG...
Sifrino3 May 10th, 2004, 10:34 AM I pulled the car in. Just after getting on it. With an older 350z. And it reads 20.2mpg. It just gets better! I hit 20 mpg for the first time in city driving!
92 Arizona Towncar May 10th, 2004, 10:45 PM I took my car to Vegas last year and averaged 21-22 on the freeway, but I get about 17 in the city... Pretty good I think for a 12 year old car...
LXRY YOT May 12th, 2004, 05:31 PM I drove nearly 1,000 miles from Litchfield, IL to Holden Beach, NC and averaged 27 mpg in my totally stock 91 LSC. :N
It was beautiful!
Now on the other hand I think I get around 10 mpg in the 84 Hot Rod Lincoln...Ouch!!!
Scott
ironballs May 14th, 2004, 12:35 PM i usually get about 20 if im lucky and i drive nice!

Rich88LSC May 20th, 2004, 11:53 PM 16.8 and I drive pretty hard and 80-90 unless I'm in a hurry on the freeway.
TuBBy May 25th, 2004, 09:21 PM For the longest time I was getting about 12. Then I finally got off my ass and tuned the old guy up.....new ACT and ECT really helped, along with just about every other damn sensor! Before I started ripping him up, Tubby was getting 18 or so in the city and 21-22 on the highway. Drop each number by 4 when Im driving frisky though.... :L
JSev22 May 25th, 2004, 09:34 PM I got 11 mpg when driving to the track (30 miles), making 14 passes in 5 hours, then drove the 30 miles home again!
Joeychgo May 25th, 2004, 10:05 PM My dash computer says 13.6
Sifrino3 May 26th, 2004, 12:51 AM I do not see why some of you get bad gas miledge. . .
evillally May 26th, 2004, 03:04 AM 19.0 MPG in my 02' Conti. That's with WOT and excessive speeds... :D
Black87LSC May 26th, 2004, 08:48 AM You guys should try Mystery Oil in your gas tank, that stuff works awesome! I usually get just under 16 mpg.... Used Marvel Mystery Oil this weekend and gained about a mpg!!! The bottle lasts for a couple of tank fulls too....
OldSchool1 May 26th, 2004, 10:12 PM I do not see why some of you get bad gas miledge. . .
Yo.
Now you sound like Disney :)
Everybody needs to stop doing an average (the number you read at the end of the day) and do an actual (with the cruise control on at 55 on flat land, then select RESET and then FUEL ECONOMY).
Your average number takes into consideration that you just accelerated to beat out the SUV and also that you sat a railroad crossing for 15 minutes. In that case, we should all be about 9 - 14.
Omega LSC May 30th, 2004, 07:06 PM eh, give or take 20 highway if im crusing at NORMAL speeds. 14 to 18 in towns and cites. espically around philiy. :D

Yeah.
Omega, are you going to come to the June 12th meet?
Sifrino3 July 10th, 2004, 08:06 AM Im getting 19.4 at the moment. But its been raising since I posted only 17mpg!
mespock July 10th, 2004, 08:16 AM I'm getting 21 to 24 average mpgs on my '85. I have not averaged under 20 mpgs since I've owned this Mark - But thats only ben 3 weeks
JoshMcMadMac July 10th, 2004, 08:32 AM In all city driving I've been getting 17.5-18 mpg with a ton of stop-and-go traffic. That's not too bad in my book!
hottweelz July 10th, 2004, 10:59 AM My avg, according to the screen in my 98 is 22.5 Long Island/Manhattan so literally a mix of City/Rural... The Caddy is exactly 20.0

I live in rual Wisconsin with mostly hwy and country roads. Some stop and go around town but not like in the cities.
A lot of my average is on the hwy going to Madison.
pepperman July 10th, 2004, 07:23 PM 16 to 17 mpg in town and 19 to 20 on the highway. :give  :smilies-3
OldSchool1 July 11th, 2004, 09:50 PM I do not see why some of you get bad gas miledge. . .
Bro.
It's for the same reason that that YOU did a year ago!
Should I dig up those nasty little threads from 2003?!?!?!
Your car is now tuned quite well. Why not tell people what you did to get better gas mileage?
NYC LS8 July 11th, 2004, 11:29 PM Info center shows 15.2 now. On the highway I get 20-21. Around town, maybe 13-14.
That's with a 5 speed, 4.10s, more oil in the combustion chamber than gas and me beating the hell out of the car everyday. :D

Asakha July 12th, 2004, 11:01 AM I'm getting about 23MPG on highway (65-70MPH) and 13 in city for a mean on 18.8 right now. If I slow down to 55, then it goes up to 28MPG. Having as much aerodynamism than a brick sure helps...
"edit" stupid me... Haven't look at the thread being in Lincoln... LOL

Sifrino3 July 18th, 2004, 12:19 AM 30.2 around phx
JoshMcMadMac July 18th, 2004, 01:24 PM How are you getting 30.2?!? I made a 760 mile round trip to PA last week, and got 24.0mpg with an average speed of 61.9mph.
JoeyLincolnMK8 July 18th, 2004, 01:27 PM 17 city! about 22 highway, but i think i can get more if i do longer trips!

When your car is on the back of a wrecker MPG goes up dramaticaly! :ban:

In what, a Honda?
:dancefool
91LSC SE July 18th, 2004, 06:31 PM I ran 24.8-25.2 on a 757 mi trip to Chicago last week @75-80mph.
And 22.8 on a 300 mi trip to Warren today, so that was about 15
miles of stop and go in the city. 3.27 gears help big time on fuel on
the highway. Ain't worth a s#!% for get up and go!!
NYC LS8 July 18th, 2004, 07:28 PM Oh, and for what it's worth, the '95 will do 30 or so on the highway. Those cars get WAY better gas mileage than the VIIs. So to say I find that 30.2MPG in a VII BS would be an understatement. :D
MonsterMark July 18th, 2004, 08:44 PM 20.5 mpg highway in my Expedition at 5600lbs curb weight and 1200 pound payload. 27-28 mpg all highway in my '98 Mark VIII.

Bad69Cad July 19th, 2004, 09:36 AM u are all lucky i get the great 6 mpg on my cadillac plus it only likes to drink supreme =(
Notorious LSC September 30th, 2004, 08:54 AM Before I swapped gears: 16 After gear swap: 20 and that's only if I keep my foot out of it and that's hard to do.
DaveSmed September 30th, 2004, 11:05 PM u are all lucky i get the great 6 mpg on my cadillac plus it only likes to drink supreme =(
Yup, 6 sounds about right. Good thing it has a big tank....

Sorry for sounding really amateur-like.. but how does one get these gears? I'd like to increase my MPG as well.
Sifrino3 October 16th, 2004, 11:26 AM Gears do no increase mpg. They will make them go down. But depending on how you drive it. You could gain mpgs if you stay off the throttle I guess. Since you are using less power to turn the wheels. But how many people do that?
codewize October 16th, 2004, 11:59 AM That depends on what you start with. Just because someone says they put 'gears' in the car doesn't mean they lowered the ratio. They may have started with 3.73's and went to 3.27's. That would definitely increase the fuel economy.

Sifrino3 October 16th, 2004, 09:59 PM True, very true!
D-Ice October 16th, 2004, 10:50 PM On my Town Car (1990) I get 19.4 in city, and 339 for distance on full tank :)
On Highway I get 22.1, and 370 for distance
Roy October 17th, 2004, 01:16 AM In the City I get about 12-13 (If I get agressive 10-11) But Hwy. is Good 27-28
Northstar Loves the Hwy. 80 mph @ 24 mpg / 65 mph @ 28 mpg
95 mph @ 18 mpg...
