Asside from the octane levels in gas, what is the difference between regular and super?

what I'm trying to find out is, can I buy regual and add an octane boost and get the same thing? I ask this, because it would be less expensive on a fill-up.

LMFAO you need to read the back of octane boosters they only raise it about .5 octane and to get a few points of octane you will need to by like 4 or 5 cans.
Im not even going to go on about this if you like performance and a smooth running car put in 93. the car maunal tell you to any how.

i doubt it would be less expensive, and you also have to worry about those products (which ARE most of them) that make fraudulant claims in octane boost.

I'm sure that you guys are right. Just checking..... These gas prices are starting to hurt, and the super is 20 cents more per gallon. Guess I'll just have to tighten the belt and stop Supersizing to afford the good stuff!

then get the 89, the car will compensate for the lower octane, you will be fine with that.

ok this has been said before but if you don't wanna spend so much on gas, get a honda. you've got to realize this is a 8 cylinder car we're talking about. hell my marks been off the road for a few months now, and I can't wait to be putting close to 50 bucks a week in, but to tell you the truth, its worth it. I don't mean to offend anyone but suck it up and stop being a baby, or like I said go byuy a hybrid.. gas prices will go down, and you could always drive less.

If super is 20 cents more per gallon in 10 gallons that is only $2 more and $3.60 for a Full 18 gallons. That more cost effective than buying the additive at the station which will cost you around $3.00 to $4.00 a bottle (at least around here).

here is a "NON" cost effective solution :)

Drop in the new 4.6 from the 2005 mustang
It is "underated" at 300hp and only "requires" 87 octane

best of both worlds.

but i'm sure it will take a lot of prem. fuel to offset the new motor cost.

I love hearing people wine about prices for there car which gets them where they want to go espically out to eat. Where they pay whatever x what it would cost to eat at home and then lay down the same size tip they always do. Its funny as prices go up nobody cuts out pop, smoking candy, going out etc.. But they will wine about an extra a few hundred $$$ over the coarse of a whole year. Unless you drive all day or are a trucker the gas is not that big of an impact on daily life. My friend bought a old mazda prodege and cost him about $1000 to save on gas now its high milage and not in good tune so only gets in the 20's milage wise. So he'd have to own it for years to see $1000 in gas savings vs his manual 5 speed dodge ram. Assuming no maintance issues to deal with. Then he just had to do a half shaft and then 2 days later it won't start. Now I have heard several people talking about doing that, rediculous.

Look at it this way. Super tends to be 20 cents more than regular. When you fill up your Mark with 16 gallons of Super, you've only spent $3.20 extra. The price of a McDonalds Happy Meal.
